specifically the mk3 fiesta ones

can i run a 1.6 XR2i 8v bottom end on a 1.4 8v EFi head without changing the managment etc? i think the 2 systems are slightly different but the only sensor i can see on the bottom end is the crank sensor which is common to both.

would doing this basically equate to the same power etc as an XR2i?

afaik the heads are the same but the intake manifold and TB of the XR2i are bigger.

can any one shed any light or tell me if its completely wrong lol.

I can't really comment much but I rebuilt the engine in my XR2i before and at the time I remember reading something about a ZVH conversion - try searching google. I don't think they used a 1.4 head though.

you certainly can but id be burretting the head to check the maths out in the compression especially if one engine has the lean burn head and the other the older type.

You may have fun with the timing blet adjustment but it all depends who has been there before you

a zvh is taking a zetec bottom end and putting a cvh head on.

im experienceing some problems that could lead to anew bottom end so was just wondering what options i had.

but my uncle has just found me a 1.4efi from an escort so no need to mess around now.

but i think while im at it ill fit the xr2i intake manifold and throttle body along with my kent 32k cam  hopefully go a bit better, also having a diesel box put on. im told it has longer 3rd and 5th ratios which would be handy aswell as uprated internals.

another you need to be careful about is that some cvh heads have oversize cam bearings

aye u can tell this by looking at the engine. if looking to the engine bay it is on the right hand side of the engine, on the polished surface beside no4 spark plug. it will either say T2.5 or C3.8
