Up at the shed for a while today and he managed to get the rear fuse box mounted and painted but i forgot to take pics off that

i then got the pedal support i made welded in to position and made him get it bolted up lol he was lightly complaining about having to get down in to the foot well and i replied anything else needs welded down there he can do it

and with the pedal bolted up i think it lines up well with the other two pedals

It's great working with the kids.
Currently have a wee Berlingo project that I am working on with my 6 year old, could have it done in no time if doing it by myself, but he is so into it, and delighted with himself when he completes something, makes it all worthwhile. Wife is sick of it as its all he ever talks about now.

That's actually where I thought I was posting. How many projects do you have lad? 😂

Yeah, they bought in 2 sill panels and had to fabricate literally everything else from scratch

I was gonna say something like that lol.

It's a question that 'The management ' would ask lol

Had a mate years ago who had around 6 or 7 cars either in his garage or around the drive and was understandably getting a fair amount of feedback from the Mrs for it. One Sunday morning an old mate of his appeared for a coffee and a chat which he didn't really know what the point of the visit was because he hadn't seen him for years because he had been working abroad. So the Mrs made the coffee and general catch up chat ensued, all the time with the mate wondering WTF this was a this about. After the social aspects had been covered, matey asked Mike what he wanted to do with the 13 cars that he had put in one of her mans sheds around 10 years prior. Blood drains from Mike's face and his Mrs explodes lol..

So we got up to the shed today after helping a couple off people out with emergency’s

one of the main differences in this and my van is we want to run all new wiring clocks ect but keep it with in reason as close as possible to the original with out going over board

this is a standard mk5 astra instrument cluster
001CBD7C-38AC-4188-9048-88D10134FD22.jpeg

and this is the standard viva dash board

i honestly think it’s pretty close so i took the face off the clocks and marked out where i think it needs to be

6A7A7D0A-CAF7-482B-A531-D06F45890EBC.jpeg

so a careful bit off chopping later

58A04013-45CE-4AF0-908B-FFB514FF9740.jpeg

just have to make a small support bracket to carry this and the steering shaft but that’s for another day

so we started on the light switches same idea

781C8C83-2246-4B0A-BE0A-E4E969793597.jpeg

wiring in to where it needs to be

2269266A-0D24-48A4-9E9D-A6A797778D22.jpeg

then we took the time to weld on some bolts for earth points

FFD49DC0-6315-4A0D-9A0C-0A14506A48B0.jpeg
and with that done we have the front fuse box mount to make and a couple off earth posts to make around the rear fuse box

so a bit off drama up at the shed this week a young lad was welding in another shed and unfortunately set fire to a load off stuff but gratefully all our stuff was ok i have photos but can’t put them on here as insurance companies are involved thanks to @FM155 for giving me a heads up about the fire .

as we got stuck in one off the first things is adapting the body to accept the mk5 astra steering column

it’s shocking to think that six spot welds and a small triangulated bracket is all that held the original in

E654D7A1-90A1-450B-BF0D-7B9AB48BD90D.jpeg

considering this is what holds it in a mk5 astra

4E864F3A-F090-4DE8-B5AE-ECCC9C453FCF.jpeg

once we had a rough idea where it was going to live i made up a stronger plate and welded it in

next up was to get the original seat and rail out off storage and see how the flyby wire pedal lined up and also the large steering wheel / column

wee man trying it out
B6EA6952-3B15-4C3A-91C7-E856E1EC7C10.jpeg

and here it is all in and the clocks in aswell

921792EE-A178-4776-AC7D-81B9DA593856.jpeg

then he got stuck in to the front fuse box and we are back up tomorrow hopefully

So friggin happy to see your shed and projects survived ok, was a fair sized fire. You know it's hot when the tin is just glowing orange and you can see that clearly across 2 fields. 8o|

You are cracking along with this rightly now, looking great. (y)
