im wanting the clio to be lower - when the ICE is in the car sits nicely at the back but at the min its hidious :confounded:

always been unhappy about the front - makes the wheels look tiny!

anyways anyone know what the best coilovers are for the clio? best value for money?

FK? H&R? SPAX? what?

thanks

At least you have the springs in Andy! (y)

I'm at std ride height and still clipping my splitter :scream: (on rabbits:relieved:)

I was thinking 40mm max would be good enough for me and give the front a bit of room for bumps/ crap roads - but since the splittter is starting to have bother already I may as well save the extra bit and go for coilovers

I've been doing a lot of looking and asking around and H&R Coilovers look pretty reasonable :grinning: (value-wise) - maybe a little expensive on that link but a Group-buy and Group-fit would be worth looking into ;)

i have Eibach in my motor-most people with VAG cars run these with Bilstein dampers....if they are good enough for some of the fussy VAG owners then they will be good for a clio!

Going lower always seems tempting but think about it logically-how many near misses do u have everyday?? The front end of my car sits nicely but the back end sits ridiculously high...ill just have to live with it!!

Better to spend that couple of hundred on engine goodies!!

i cant do too much now on the engine to tune it up bar the t-box without spending silly money!

im the opposite in that the back sits ok WITH THE ICE IN but cos of the new wider front arches, even with spacers, the front wheels look smallish (esp when dirty!)

does anyone know if LOUD_CLIO from ages ago sold his 60mm kit??

Hmm coilovers seems the best option imo, since you can lower it up to 80mm and them put it up to 30mm for mot. Saves wreckin your bumper on the rollers.

Im thinkin of theses ones http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=854

they would be the firm favourite at the min but id try spend my money elsewhere than k-tec

bound to get them cheaper from someone else!

fk coilovers are really good, if you have a sunroof in your clio, id think twice about lowerin her that much.

lowered clios with sunroofs tend to kink the roof skin, ive seen it many times.

heard this aswell and investigated it but the only info i found was that of clios which were lowered to the balls and had strut braces!

i would only be lowering 50-60mm max

you havent a leg to stand on!! You will be forking out for the repair bill!!

I seen a clio with a kinked roof-owner claimed it was only lowered 50mm.

Renault aren't stupid and will wash their hands of you

Yea ive never seen the roof kinked on any clio yet. My old one was lowered 45mm on 16s and my cousins was 60mm on 17's and nothin. Might just be unlucky people

boydie my clio was lowered 60mm and it had no strut brace and the roof kinked around the sunroof.. broke my heart.. also heard of the sills cracking on lowered clios!!!

I got away with it for about 2 years then suddenly a ripple appeared which gradually got worse, so i sold it lol

I've got spax coilovers on the escort and have no complaints at all - no rattles and give a very nice ride.

if you want to be safe about it strip out the interior roof lining and weld a plate onto the roof surrounding the back left and right of the sunroof. Would that be an option? or would the roof skin be too thin to weld to? This is only a crap suggestion

i never wanted a bloody sunroof in the first place lol

at the min there is something loose in the roof of my car just behind the sunroof which vibrates when riding the clutch/reversing

when u tap it its loose so im going to go down to renault and get them to sort it

ill also ask them about the thickness of the roof too
