Dont think its a way of checkin the windows work, think its just the easiest way of handin in ur docs surely....

Unless they r gona go round and ask u for the documents at each window?! lol

Not sure if it's a requirement for MOT but its bound to be a bit of a pain for car park tickets and also important things like McDonalds.

Can't imagine it would be a pass/fail item as you would still have a means of escape in an emargency via the door.

my cousin took changed the tinted windows in his 306 for non tinted ones for the MOT, of course at the MOT centre he rolled down the window and it slipped of the slider as he did so, so that the window would not go up, still passed mot though

Don't think you need the windows to pass MOT, because the windows on Pacmans 306 didn't work when a previous owner had it and it passed every year!
Have your looms into the doors broke? I had to put new ones in last week!

lyons they will try to wind your window down, they have to , to lean out and pass your file to the next stage of the lane as they put the car through the tests, get it sorted is my advice, saves you the 17.50 retest.

Depends on the test centre and how through they are being. I'm nearly 100% sure you gotta be able to roll down your front drivers window etc.

Mind you, just do what I did, when i got my Escort at first the window was stuck and MOT was next day, so just took the window out, drove down, chatted to the fella out the windowless door, and rolled out.

You can be failed on something thats not working, but you can't be failed on something your car doesn't have.

Eg, two front windows completly removed because your windows where broken the night before. Handy for anyone with tints that won't pass an MOT!

Car requires a windscreen if fitted with one (eg unlike some old cars etc), as it makes up part of the cars structure.
