I can understand if they can’t insure people for whatever genuine reason that may be but there’s no excuse for the attitude of that particular employee, Id be very surprised if he’s still working there.

Never had any issues myself.

Have had one car they didn't want to take on as it was outside their value range. That's fair enough.

Other than that no problem at all. Fantastic with modified stuff.

They went out of their way to insure the Evo. Even went on Google street view to check security, etc., to push the premium down.

Never encountered this alleged bad person either, maybe I've just been lucky.

As always, everyone is different and other providers are available.

After not being with for just over 2 years I recently insured the civic with them again. Was aware of problems from here but experienced none myself. The chap I was speaking with was very friendly and helpful and did the best he could to bring the price down despite my mistake of not using a policy for over 2 years and thus loosing about 7 years no claims.

I have my Integra insured with them. Last year's renewal came in the same price as the year before, to the penny. That's despite having another year's no claims, recently moved from a development (with the car garaged at a different address) to a quiet rural area with locked garage. I questioned this by phone and got the excuse that sometimes the underwriters just treat BT postcodes all the same. The car will be 20 years old in September so I'll hopefully have more options available to me.

Actually works out cheaper to leave the car on the street instead of in the garage for some reason.

@Burt2000 I can confirm he is still there. My trade Policy kicked back on my S6 due to it being a Jap Import and I give Greenlight a shout and got said fella Captain Ignorant. Told me they would not insure it either and that I will have some bother getting it insured he was absolutely useless and ignorant so off to Flux I went and boom insured no problem.

Less chance of a creeper burglary for the keys if it's on the street because they've to guess which house to break in to.

I nearly forgot about my renewal so didn’t have time to frig about ringing elsewhere otherwise I would have tried greenlight in either hope to get someone else and get a decent quote or to get him and find out his name and waste his time some more like he told me I did last year.

I’d moved from flux to them 6 years ago as flux tried to screw over after a bone fault accident. But back with flux now since he wouldn’t even give me a quote last year after I didn’t go for his the year before.

a few!
Flux had my policy on the Kadett at the time of the smash. Just washed their hands of it and was treated like dirt. Will never give them a penny again even if it means walking to work in my bare feet.

Really well
Any insurance company can be the best in the world to deal with.

It's only when **** hits the fan that you get any insight into how good they are.

Totally agree. Have 4 cars insured on my admiral policy atm and it’s very competitive. Cant complain, covers mods and allows me to add another car short term if I’m shooting it for a client. Hope I never have to find out how they deal with accidents!

Won't be back near greenlight now myself after their antics this year, thankfully I've not had to make any claims but I'd hate to see how difficult they'd make that process if they can't get the simple stuff right.

I was always under the assumption that if the car was parked in a garage and went on fire the insurance company also pays for the garage thus cheaper being on the driveway etc , don’t know if that’s right or wrong but it made sense

we can only offer a quote over the phone which is valid for that phone call only, we couldnt offer the same price when you phone back...
Unfortunately same thing for me today. I was on hold for 30 minutes and then spent 15 minutes going through details. They had to call the underwriter for the best quote - I was then told it was a 'live quote' and I had to buy it there and then, or I can call back before 1pm today, and pay a higher quote of £55 more. I asked if I can call back and he can then recall the underwriters - but I was told under no circumstances would he call back the underwriters and requote me.

Just renewed Mitsi with Greenlight. No bother at all, best quote again, no issues with mods, no issues with specialist cars.

Honda is also due soon so I got a quote for that as well. They weren't competitive last year for that, too new for them. But this year came in £50 cheaper than anyone else. Car is standard but again policy allows for mods should I choose to.

Had a nice wee chat when he saw what's in the rest of the garage, lol.

No idea who this supposedly bad mannered person is people mention. I've still never come across anyone who isn't professional and a bit of a car nut themselves.

Rover's!
Well phoned about my new highly modified 75 today, I've just been told by their agent they won't insure diesels on modified scheme now as "they have to many claims against them", and when I gave them list of upgrades to the car I was told "if it had air ride suspension we'd consider it".

Could have just said rovers are **** big lad, we don't want your business and I'd have been happy enough tbh.

Tried them for my new Subaru. They basically told me to go somewhere else for a quote as I wanted to move NCB off a cheaper policy to use it for this, and they told me to just insure it with whoever I'm with now.

Tried that, they don't do modified cars

Went back to greenlight and got a bit of attitude as "We'd spoken before about this car" and then I was told they'll not touch it without an aftermarket Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser (Despite it already having factory fitted alarm and immobiliser) and they're need to see certificates of installation and testing.

Felt a bit "We're not interested" but the goalposts kept moving with new excuses. Was with them for years with the old turbo mx5 too and never an issue!

They showed less than half a **** when I contacted them about insuring the vRS. Honestly don't know what they insure now.

@ace275

Your Subaru is an import, right? In that case you need a euro spec immobiliser, nobody will accept a Jap one.

If it was installed by the importer then all you need is a certificate from them.

Any other insurer will be the same.

I got a quote fine with Adrian Flux. Noone else I spoke to cared about the alarm, only Greenlight.

The factory fitted system is a very thorough system that ties multiple modules in the car together, and I'd really not like to add another alarm and immobilizer over the top of the factory system if I can avoid it, and have another chunky fob on the keyring

Also somewhat reluctant to pay the premium to have a system installed when it's only a few hours work and I've done loads of them over the years, yet as I'm not a registered installer I can't do a certificate (Despite being more than competent, and coming from over 15 years of security installation myself). If I was to do it myself I could spend the time to route everything very neatly, and exactly where I know it is.

Tbh having a euro spec alarm is not really any more protection than what it's already got, though yes some jap cars are very poorly protected I do agree
