I have an SRI Insignia just under 4 years old with 101k on the clock. Reported an unusual engine noise when the car went into to Townparks for service. On asking for their view I got some guff about needing to strip parts... blah blah... not quick... blah blah.
As far as I can seen the noise is loudest near the rocker cover around no2/3 cylinders. At tickover the distinct knock has a frequency of 200-215 beats per minute. ie. one quarter of tick over rpm. Does anyone have any knowledge of issues on these engines, or recommend someone competent ( Belfast-Randalstown) who could check it out
