Thanks Keith, I can't even remember saying that this morning - that must have been when everything was going wrong here...

I will not drive with undeclared mods because my insurance would then be void but I was saying if I can't get something cheaper then I will just not modify it and drive it standard.

Cheers Steveo, I will try AXA although nooone seems to want to cover me.

All the mainland guys are telling me anything around 1000 is good. I think that's completely and utterly ridiculous considering it's a group 6, I have a 100% clean license and it's only a 72 bhp car with a couple of cosmetic mods to make it more visually appealing.

Have you tried quinn direct? They should be fairly good for your age group. How old are ya?

I'm paying £800 on my 2.0L Turbo Nova, all mod's declared, agreed value of 9k, limited to 3k a year with Adrian Flux (i'm 25 with full ncb)

I got a quote from greenlight for under £500 but with a 6k agreed value and it was too late to cancel with Flux.

How old are you? How many yrs ncb?

Keith

@poldti - just tell them your insurance is up in the next week, to get a price out of them. im old 31 with a lot of no claims 9yrs but it was about 500 cheaper than anyone else would quote. apart from greenlight who i was with, but open & direct will beat any price by £25

also tell them your best price is 500 or something and just name some other insurer like elephant when they ask

@Keith - yeah, im with Sabre.

I'd have thought you'd get insured for around £500 - £600 with everything declared, being 21, female and with 3 years NCB :confounded:

i can get it for 380 for not being lowered. 800 isn't too bad in comparison to what I have been paying but it's double what I could get it for. and the way things are going I would rather leave it standard and sell the springs. the company won't take them back.

Open and direct told me there that none of their companies cover lowered cars and I mentioned sabre and they said they don't do it. I don't know how some people have it covered and they won't do it again.

They've obviously covered them before and then these customers must have had accidents. Higher risk = not providing cover. Greenlight wont insure you because the cars probably not in a high enough insurance group to begin with, not that its 'not modified'.

yeah fair enough John, yeh they said it isn't classed as modified which I'm assuming is due to the lackage of bhp? I wana cry now :worried:

I will sell my springs (if I can...)

Greenlight wouldn't quote my BMW last year when it was standard. I tried them again this year when it was lowered with alloys and they covered it. Speak to them and tell them its lowered and see if they can quote it, if they can then get your springs fitted immediately.

Hi Lisa,

We do cover some Polo models (G40, Gti etc) but i'm afraid that a Polo Tdi would not qualify for our performance car Insurance schemes.

Our range of Insurers is being expanded and we should be able to do something in the next month or so, but the ethos of the schemes we currently have available in Northern Ireland would not cater for you right now.

Sorry

Kind regards

Tony

ps. that's so rude John!!!

Hi Lisa,

As you're clearly having a nightmare, leave this with me and I'll contact the Underwriters to see as to whether there is anything we can do on a bespoke basis.

Our schemes in Northern Ireland are wholly aimed at performance models, which can (preferably) be modified.

The modifications will be what gives us a shot at trying to bespoke something - would the remap be on there by your May renewal date?

Tony

Ps. We have another Underwriter coming online (QBE) who will be available to us shortly within Northern Ireland - it's likely they will be able to quote, so may have a 2nd option as your policy being due in May may give us enough time to set up the trading systems & necessary controls etc before your renewal date.

Hi Tony.

Thanks so much, that'd be great if you could. I have tried literally every broker and insurer here to no avail! The majority of others are talking about how much they saved and the really good prices and I can't seem to find any!

Right I get you now, I was taking it more modified than performance models.

Chances are that it won't be but it could well be coming soon!! Depends how much insurance skins me!! I prefer to pay for my insurance in a lump sum rather than monthly installments if that helps any?

Yeah, I have until the 1st May to get this sorted but being the early bird I have started looking early! Keep in touch and let me know how things are going.

Thanks for your help,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Scary :scream:

Just posting upon this thread as your PM arrived.

We are a performance car insurance specialist as we prefer to cover vehicles that people are endeared to rather than A-to-B models.

In addition, we also like the positive moral factor with modifications. Namely the additional care from people who are spending money that they often do not need to upon their vehicles, which to us demonstrates they care about their car, how it handles, looks & performs.

We are a genuine specialist Insurance provider who deals with numerous forums and tuners upon the mainland and has extensive experience of the technical impact of modifications upon a vehicle.

Lowering your vehicle often improves the roadholding & handling of your vehicle, which providing you have the correct ground clearance would not impact upon the premium quoted.

Our main problem was the base model of your vehicle being non performance. But having proven a point in Northern Ireland over the last 2 years the additional markets are now coming on board to cater for risks such as yours.

Kind regards

Tony
