May as well start a thread for the new toy.
After a very long day over to Banbury and a 350 mile trip home it’s tucked up in bed.

I’ve always said a lotus was something I wanted to own and experience and I wasn’t disappointed. These are like nothing else I’ve driven before, very raw, handles like it’s on rails with bags of grip. The 1.8 VVTI 190 engine is like a vtec on steroids when it kicks, the noise and driving experience is a proper buzz.

It’s a good spec and pretty much track ready.
06 touring model with 44k, 2 owners
Full history
Nitron dampers and geo set up
Team dynamics 1.2 pro race in staggered set up with Avon ZZR track tyres
TRD airbox which sounds mental
VVT crossover lowered to 5750rpm from 6250.
Upgraded aluminium radiator and fans
Just had a full respray in original ardent red.

Absolutely first class that, love it! Only talking today to people about changing the Alfa for something more fun like one of these!

Would love a look round it if you're out and about a spin anytime in the next week or so

Yes no problem @gav525 if you are about Belfast give me a shout. It would be very different to your Alfa obviously much less power and refinement but as a summer toy they tick the boxes. I really wanted the R with the Toyota 190 engine, that way at least the engine and running gear aren’t crazy specialist parts and easy enough fixed or to source parts for, the 2ZZ-GE is pretty bombproof like the Honda vtecs im lead to believe.

That's exactly what I think I want lol, Alfa is too much power and point and squirt and an auto box, I really miss a manual!

I've a month off here so available all day every day lol, let me know when you're free and going a spin 👍🏻

The 2ZZ's that I see in converted MR2's and Yaris' at Targas & Autotests sound nuts and seem reliable. The only ones that gave bother were home converted ones that had some sort of niggle that hadn't been properly addressed.

With the TRD air box the induction noise reminds me of a mk2 escort on throttle bodies lol. Mad wee car altogether, I think after a long day getting to know it, I would get the best out of it on a track, on the road my balls would run out long before it’s ability’s would.

Not mine but gives you an idea of what they sound and go like

Yer man is changing up way too soon for most of the lap and losing loads of time. They sound fantastic tbh.
This is Eamonn Byrne's 2ZZ Yaris, it's only near the end of this clip that he actually gets to fully open the taps for a second but sounds lush.

Yeah I had the little red shift light blink a couple of times today at about 8500rpm😂, it’s very reminiscent of the b series vtecs, the 2zz seemed to fly under the radar a bit.

That is lovely in red, all the best with it.
Is it the same 1.8 in celicas of the early 2000's? 180bhp uk and 190 jdm?
In 2009 had an 04 uk one with 120k miles, it went OK, always remember how good on fuel it was.

Thanks everyone 👍

@big_pete id be very keen to get the paint protected asap and I’m also thinking about PPF on the front before it starts getting stone chipped, I have some PPF pre cut for the rear lower quarters too

That is stunning. Colour / wheels / interior suit the car so so well.

Might be the best looking example I've seen. Enjoy my man!

It sits so right and the alcantara interior is much nicer than leather imo. It’s looks like a mini Ferrari I think.
