Got a 2004 Mg Zr 2.0 Tdi

On a dry day she works perfect

On a wet day with heavy showers, if she is left to idle (take foot off accelerator) she goes into limp home mode after few seconds and puts on engine management light on dash. When u turn her off, let her sit for 5 an turn her on, she works perfect.

If u coming do a junction an take your foot of pedal to brake, she does it. However if u use your left foot to brake an keep your right on the throttle to keep her open, she doesnt do it. When driving she is normal through all speed ranges. It only happens when idling.

Mechanic has changed throttle potentiometer, air flow meter, took the wires out an taped them up, there no breaks in them, with good continuity through out. He now talking that it could be the brain, which couldnt be cos it only happens in rain. Brain is "Dry as Snuff" inside in his words.

Any1 any ideas- it gets annoying when she does it 3 times in 20 mins!

sounds like a pain in the arse,

do u actually get out of the car and take it out of limp mode in the rain?

No. Turning her off, letting her sit for 5 mins then starting her up an giving her a good rev takes her out of limp home. Although if u take your foot off accelerator she can go straight back into limp home mode! ANNOYING OR WOT?

i had a zr in 02 and mine had a similarproblem and was caused by water getting sucked into the air box. it ended u[ being the air flow meter and the direct injection sensor on no.1 cyclinder. it was along time ago and im near 100% sure that was the problems (y)

With all the wet weather yesterday an today she obviously done it again.

Checked air box an filter was soaken on side next to wher she sucks the air in (Bottom). So not sure wot to do now.

Actual fault when the car is put up diagnostic machine is P0121 Accelerator Pedal Sensor Plausibility.

Try the Xpower forum mate, might be a common issue if your getting water into the airbox. Certainly shouldn't be wet like that.

Well the air filter defo shouldn't be getting that wet.

It will restrict the amount of air getting through, therefore the engine can't breathe very well.

I think.

Well with any luck the filter wouldn't let the water through, it should just hold it hopefully. But that means the car is trying to suck air through a soaking filter. Thats what I'd think anyway.

Basically, sort that out before the didgery dootry valve ecu fault  (y)
