You’ve ticked the Supra box and there are other cars to try so I can understand your decision.

That said, I disagree with it! :joy: Especially seeing that the Evo you linked is the same price as this!

I've been drooling over a few examples on the MLR, have you looked at evos on it?

Conflicted about this as I love both Supras and Evos in nea equal measure. If someone gave me a choice to pick beetween the two not sure how I'd make it.

Enjoyment is they key word, if I don't enjoy a car I'm not going to keep it.
100%, if you are not enjoying a car then absolutely no point in keeping it.

I don't plan to ever sell my 260Z, but if I ever stop enjoying it I will change my mind. Don't see that happening though, I enjoy it more than any car I've been in and this should continue as long as I don't ruin how it drives by going for a load more power and a single turbo. I think how it drives is key and with more power while outright in a straight line it would be faster I don't think it could match how the engine feels the way I have it setup.

I'll take you a run in it if we happen to be at a meet together sometime, one of the reason I feel its good is because of how much traction it has, even with only 225 semi slicks. If it felt loose all the time I can't see me enjoying it, if your supra feels loose I can understand the want for an Evo, because I've sen the grip those things can generate and the way they launch of the line.

Perfectly good reasons to sell, not that you need reasons to sell your own car. That eco you linked seems great! Can’t beat a well spec’d 5-6.

How's it going bud? Long time no see.

Aye been on the forum a few times over the last few weeks, think I'd rather a fresh import than something that's been on UK roads though.

@EF Ian I'd bite your arm off for a run in the 260Z, let's make it happen.
Have to get it back on the road first, that should be before the end of this Summer all going well. Happy to take you a run if an opportunity appears.

Having owned a supra I agree with you. An Evo will be epic fun to drive and that's what cars are about

A lot of folks who've owned them agree.

Friend had one, spent a fortune on it was up near 800bhp and sold it within a month.

Maybe in America where drag racing is a huge thing owning one of these makes sense, but for our twisty, wet roads its a bit of a fish out of water.

Take away the looks and the Fast and the Furious fanboyism and you're left with a car that struggles to excite.

You're gonna kick yourself when Supras are 50k+ down the line! Some already are.

Partly why I'm still itching for a Skyline. Anything jap and RWD is demanding a premium so I'd love an R33 again while they're affordable but nowhere to keep one!

I know boys who have owned Evos and sold them for similar reason you're selling this, they say they're boring. I like them but I haven't lived with them, nor a Supra. If the Supra was anything like my Skyline I'd say I'd never get bored of it. I'm sure the Supra has more power and would be more fun if anything.

But hey, I went from a Skyline to a Swift. Life happens and sometimes things need to change. I don't regret selling my Skyline, I needed to at the time I hadn't much option...but the want for another hasnt left me. If I could have afforded it, I'd have kept it stored.

As someone who's actually owned a Supra for any length of time maybe I could shed a light on what they are actually like. ..

They are beautiful cars to look at but for me there was always something lacking in the way they drive. They are fantastic in a straight line, but eventually that becomes a little bit boring and life is too short to own a car that you are bored of driving.

Traction is a major issue on any Supra no matter the power level, the rear end is too light. Any sign of rain on the roads and I don't feel comfortable planting the foot, so it stays at home. Not ideal to own in a country that has 5 dry days a year.

This car gets attention like no other I've owned but I don't really care about that, I'd rather own something like I can take for a drive no matter the weather.

There's much more I could say but at the end of the day it's just a car and if anyone shocked at this decision wants to buy it and actually own one let me know
Yeah it sounds terrible to own. . . . .I'll give u £10k. :p

My Supra will never be worth £50K, when the market gets to that stage the only people buying them are collectors.

No collector in their right mind would buy a Supra with an R154 gearbox from a different car.

Also if I change my mind in a few years I'll just buy myself an original TT6.

Yes, been a while. Not bad with me. I have an MR2 now along with the evo to keep me busy (y)

Definately if you can afford to get a fresh import do so.

My Evo was a 4.5grade on the import sheet when she came over. Not sure if they are still graded the same.

You'd need her undersealed straight away though if you are dailying it!

Good luck

Slowly but surely getting it across all sites, I already have an offer from a guy in the US.

I'd rather it went to America so I never have to see it again.

Jonny and I have been talking for a while about Evos, I've always wanted a car that I can enjoy around Kirkistown without the fear of wrecking it. So overall I think I'd have more fun in an Evo for track days and the like.

Will most likely be a well sorted Evo 5 or 6.

Mirror image of my sale! An American bought it and I jumped at it so wouldn’t see it driving around here. GLWS I’m sure it will go in no time.

I was watching this thread earlier and seen all the comments and wanted to write a very similar post to this but just didn’t get the time during the day.

Everything you say is so so true and it happens time and time again amongst ‘petrolheads’ and the cars we all long for.

The harsh reality is a lot of these cars people pine after are actually, not that nice !
Sure they are a one trick pony for whatever reason but as a normal car... and then we are now faced with this mentalness of huge values once something reaches the point of being old (which I think will decline but that’s another story)

The problem with all of this is that unless you are fortunate enough to be in a position where you can take £20/30/40/50k or however much and throw it in a bank and forget you even have it then these ‘hero cars’ can become very tiresome to own.

I learnt this with my CSL which I had for the guts of 5 years. I drove it for two then pretty much parked it as I didn’t want to keep racking up the miles, plus it was crap as a ‘car’ ... sure if on a mission down a back road it was amazing until the brakes melted but as a thing to get in and drive to the shops, take the Mrs for a meal or whatever I might as well have had a motorbike
Then comes the next stage, growing to hate the thing... I had a lot of money tied up in that car which I could really use differently so that’s exactly what I did and got a car I could actually enjoy.

I completely agree with your decision to move your Supra on @acsmyth and have no doubt it will go and you’ll be all happier for it with whatever you choose to buy, it looks like an awesome example! As does that Evo btw

I guess what I’m trying to say is sometimes the actual ownership of certain cars is no where near as enjoyable as the lusting after them, go drive a standard Escort Cosworth or Countach and you’ll see what I mean

I wouldn't fault your change either @acsmyth and I did have a good look at that Evo when it went online.

IMHO the Supra is more of a GT car. That Evo fired down a back road like your pants are on fire is a very different type of car, thats not saying one is better than the other.

I'll probably end up in another rally rep at some stage, but kept as a toy. As an exploitable road weapon, little can touch them.

I would say though, it may be pretty costly to track the car and keep it tip top.

Either way a change is always good, you have had your fun and spent plenty on the car.

Both awesome cars and you are very lucky to be dealing with both!

Susan the Supra is staying, I'll be taking it off the road, for the time being, maybe get it to a couple of shows in the summer. Couldn't bring myself to sell it.

I've bought @Eddie_ old red Clio 200 Cup to have a bit of craic at Trackskills and a few weekend blasts so it should keep me happy for a while.
