I’ve a JB4 to fit to my S3 which I’ll declare along with springs, spacers and induction kit so need a modified insurer. Who are people with at the minute? I’m with Admiral who currently cover the springs and spacers but haven’t had my renewal yet. Tried Greenlight and they won’t cover my postcode. LV are £760 via gocompare
Cheers

I’m with Adrian Flux. They have been much cheaper to insure both my 265 & 275 with. Though for my 197 & 200 Greenlight where much cheaper.

I would price either of the above - won’t go too far wrong imo.

I'm with advance insurance, they came up as the cheapest for me a few years ago and I rang them.

Said they offer specialist modified or import policies. Could be worth a punt at least

Have a quote for £475 from Flux and the email says give them a ring to reduce the quote. Will try them on Monday

what way do the referrals work ??

Cip will refer certain cars to underwriter for ok to add to policy for example I had my 6 series on then took it off and added rrs which had to go for referral then same again when adding 6 series back on
Performance cars and imports seem to be getting clamped down on a lot with trade

Depends on what the car is. I was told last year they wouldn’t cover anything highly modified or any imports. Things like M cars rs Audi lis type r’s all go for referrals but my s2000 didn’t 🤔

Had an absolute handling in April when Axa decided that after 10 years of zero drama the modified cars I own and work on were suddenly high risk. Just said they wouldn't quote me and gave me a few weeks to sort alternative cover elsewhere.

Kissed the trade policy goodbye as I couldn't get anyone to cover modified and imports in the same sentence.. With Flux this year, will review matters next year. Least it gives me a year to find a trade policy that might cover me working on modded jap stuff.

Night mare buddy

I’ve been looking m powered cars and an evo for my own use but debating if trade will cover also couldn’t get a classic quote on six series as it’s under 20 years old

They should still cover a standard M car or evo, though not if they are over 20 years old

Hope so

I meant before I was adding my 6 series back on to trade I was just going to put it on classic policy but couldn’t get quote from anywhere as it was under 20 years old

I renewed my policy with Adrian flux on 30th May and sold my car last week. Rang to cancel the policy and they want £193 to cancel it. I'll not be using them again

I questioned this with every broker I rang and was told a lot of businesses are just 'winging it' which is so concerning I can't imagine it is true. Just imagine if the likes of Fensport stacked your pride and joy on a roadtest.. I just figured they didn't want my business but they kept saying there was a clamp down on modified stuff so the import aspect limited the field drastically.

They said it's a grey area on trade policies and if something did go wrong the underwriter could potentially walk away. Call me sceptical but I read that as they probably would walk away.

Think the clampdown came in last year. I put a modified Evo on last January and there was absolutely no problem then.
Any insurance company will find any way they can for them not to have to pay out, it’s not just trade policies
