Old skool
A boy Tim Brownlee in Belfast had a shed full of these and other lovely old skool toyotas and fell out with his painter... I think everyone got hit on the pillars and roofs dented enough to make them write offs, this was 20odd years ago tho but I can remember seeing them after and was near sick.... that’s a cool Aul bus....

Knew him (but he had a slightly different surname then?) and he even took me to see the cars in the shed, but that incident must have happened later.
Thankfully I smelt a rat and stayed clear but he rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way, so that story doesn't surprise me at all.

Cheers. Hard to get good painters these days that will specialise in the older stuff but thankfully I think this man's spot on going by his previous work.

Thanks guys. The one part of the car always annoyed me was the poor paint job, certainly can't say that now. Insured the car on Tuesday and forms for tax and mot exemption are off so nearing the finish line now.

I like this colour a lot better than the previous blue. really sets it off.
Try another photo sometime with front and back windows rolled right down. They look so good.

Miles are racking up rightly. Few wee rattles to sort and adjust the exhaust but covered about 30miles so far and all going good. There's a little play in the steering rack so I may put the steering back to original but for now I'm just enjoying being out and about

Did you convert it to rack or is it still steering box?

If you still have the steering box fitted, there's a slot head screw and lock nut you can adjust to take out some of the backlash, but it's just the nature of them; they will never be as good a system as a rack.

Aye I converted it to a rack on the back of the subframe. There's a bit of play has appeared in the rack. Need to check thou that the steering bars wont touch the sump

Ah very good. Never did this myself but well worth doing I'm sure. Hope you get it sorted.

Absolutely stunning. 😎😎😎
I always kick myself that I never bought a TA22 GT about 10 years ago that was half way through restoration 😭. The shell was done to perfection and 90% of the parts were there for it 😭😭😭

Thanks Jethro. theyre not easy come by now. I bought this 12 years ago at a fair price but I no men have paid 4 times what I paid 10years later, 5 digit figures that need full restoring. Its mad.
