Check whats actually broken in the turbo before you buy it.

I almost bought a Fiat Coupe yoke where the turbine blades has broken and embedded themselves in the top of the pistons. When the car started from cold it chugged out oil and i soon learned the new owner had to fork out for a rebuild.

This is true, if the blades have shattered or the balancing nut has come off you are gonna have to change the intercooler and boost pipes and even then you still cant be sure debris hasnt entered the cylinders. More often than not though the variable vane mechanism in the turbo has just seized.
