Hi All, I've recently imported this from Japan, needed a couple of floor patches, all sorted, rest of the car is excellent, it's on the button and drives 100% but it's too slow, 998cc, 3sp Auto, (think it makes about 45BHP!! im not after anything nutty just something that will keep up with todays traffic, especially joining motorways!!! It only weighs 750kg so super light. I want to fit something like a 1.8 Almera, Manual (want to keep it Nissan) I've asked around and everyone's super busy, can anyone point me in the right direction, im at Sprucefield, Car looks well, got rid of those bloody awful roof bars, totally transforms the look of the car, will have a smooth slammed look when finished, im replacing the head lining and door cards in African abstract camouflage which looks awesome, im smoothing the front (bumper access) Lisburn. Many thanks.

Thanks I looked at the SR20 both Turbo and Non turbo and I honestly think theres too much fabrication involved, I have winter hack, Auto Almera 1.8 which is about twice the weight of the Pao but Auto box is huge so thought Manual, those 1.8 twin cam engines are excellent, I thought with a set of TB's and decent exhaust it would be a fun little car, even if it only makes 120bhp it only weighs the same as a box of fags.
That's is awesome!

Thanks for liking, iv'e had 5 of these and can't get them out my system, iv'e dropped this 100mm F&R, awesome looking little thing on the road, one of the 1st Japanese Micro cars, fun to drive.
CG13 from a mk2 micra might work, think they're about 75-80bhp
Hi, thanks for your advice, last week I flew over to Plymouth and bought/drove back K11 1.3 Manual Micra, lovely little thing bit iv'e changed my mind and fancy the 1.8 Almera, I advertised the k11 when I got back and it sold straight away.

That is so cool!

Are these cheaper than Figaros? I’m only asking because my little sister really wants a Fig for her first car but their too expensive now.

Thanks for your comment.
Like most early Japanese stuff the price is on the up. Not sure if you know Pao's but they were originally designed to last between 3-5 years, this 1's 30 years old,1989, never exposed to UK weather, metal is wafer thin so no wet driving, I honestly wouldn't recommend as a 1st car, these are getting quite collectable now, lots are totally rotten underneath so be very careful, get it up on a ramp and have a proper poke about. I've recently viewed 1 that was 100% mint 18 mts ago and it's now totally rotten, ain't worth it, parts only. + NO AIRBAGS etc you do not want to have an accident in 1 of these, K11 Micra's are great and theres still a few about, I know it don't look the same but a crackin little 1st car for reliability/running cost/insurance.

Regards
Adrian

Something like the old 1.5 Sunny engines are great with a port and skim. Maybe bike carbs if you really want to but a healthy 1.5 is probably all it needs. There are still a couple of them kicking around the autotests and they do very well in the right hands.

Cool project, if it was me I would *******ise that with a Honda K Swap, would be LOTS of fun and probably fairly easy(ish) considering how many conversions are being done with them now days.

Thank you for your opinion, I originally wanted a K20 (had a donor EP3 in my garage, 100% complete, all perfect but red had turned to pink so bought for £1200 but nobody seemed to fancy the install, I though with ITB'S and 100mm trumpets and the Pao having a metal bulkhead the induction would be 100% MENTAL, especially with a sequential 6 sp box, heaven on full chat.

That sounds perfect, would you not attempt it yourself? Not very many people around who will take on such a project.

I'd love to take it on myself as im havin a proper love affair with this little thing, im scared if I go for Almera route i'l be disappointed, I have a tiny engine bay, iv'e had a few type r's n stuff and do love them, I have a garage and room for off-street working on 4 cars, the Pao is small so you can get 100% access to everything.

Bseries engine rotation is always a stumbling block when it comes to fitting the engine longitudinally.

Thank you Rooneyrocket, been doing a bit of research and I honestly think a Nissan QG18DE Manual out of an Almera/Primera/Tino is the way to go, they're a tidy looking twin cam engine esp on ITB's and apparently they can run 200bhp all day long (if its a good one) lots of OBX performance/turbo bits etc still avail.

Bound to be able to find one dead easy too.

Still a good few of these on the roads over in Japan. Cool looking wee cars.

Hi Coog, your right there's still loads about and super cheap, esp MOT failures, I drive an Auto Almera 1.8 as a 'runabout' and what a brilliant little car, goes really well, over 120mph and the Pao is half the weight, I run on 12" original wheels so gearing will alter, should go well.

Richard Bradley for the win there
