Loads more progress over Christmas. The engine is now plumbed, and I'm waiting now on some 13MM ID pipe to finish the charge cooler setup.

The loom is all working, wired up, next up will be the fuel pump wiring. Then I just need to purchase the ECU.

Few shots of it dragged out of the garage.

One issue is the seats are from an Astra GTE, due to their width, I can't select 6th gear :worried: so as part of the re-trim, I'll need to source some SR/GTE seats.View attachment 345728View attachment 345729View attachment 345727View attachment 345732View attachment 345731View attachment 345730

Absolutely perfect Keith in every way. The detail you go into on these is unreal.

After what seems like a lifetime - I finally got the box of goodies needed to get the car up and running.

The fuel lines have alloy fittings which are hydraulically fitted, making them much safer than the usual methods.

Hopefully, we'll have a video of it running in a few weeks time!

Some great progress this weekend.

First up I fitted all the fuel hoses:

Then drove to Steven G to get my ECU

A few more parts landed like this boost controller valve

Went to Halfords for a battery

Fitted the map sensor

filled it with Coolant… then it wet itself

Finally after a load of swearing I managed to get it running. Drove it outside to clean out the garage.

I was going to wash it as it’s absolutely filthy, but it’s to be cold over the next week and I don’t think it would dry properly. Will wait for milder weather

Few shots

2nd time lucky...

So, last year when the car went for mapping, it uncovered a few engine issues.

Courtneay in their wisdom ran three head gaskets (it was the mid 90's) to lower compression. I assumed this was a mapping thing to allow them to run more boost. Turns out it's because they ran different pistons. Mad how it ran like this for 25+ years!

Long story short, I went to a single gasket, compression was through the roof, and thus I had to remove and rebuild the engine.

So... engine rebuilt, refitted, turbo recon'd and we're back in business.

Back to hopefully get the map finished off soon. This prompted me to book the MOT -earliest date 23rd sept, lovely! Will have to play MOT bingo every morning now to get a closer date.

Looks the bee-knees as they say. Shame about the engine but like you said Keith - amazing it ran that way for all that time.
