how about a 106 1.5d with a 2.0 hdi or 1.9td engine, would be a rocket plus different. tuning could be bigger turbo, injectors, intercooler and mapped. not much room for it tho but it has been done.

I dont actually know much about tuning diesels, could be an interesting project to learn from though. U know neone that knows their **** about diesels?

Id go for a saxo 1.1/pug 1.1 and put the vts/gti engine in, keep the standard 1.1 arches and you would have a real wolf in sheeps clothing.
Plenty of bits for them as well.

If its a 1.9td like in the 306/xzara/zx/405 then they are very easy to get 130bhp out of them for very little money. That combined with the 106 would make it very nippy. Bit nose heavy though!

Im studying Motorsport Engineering, doing the course at Warwickshire College but its actually a Coventry Uni course so its a proper Degree. I study at warwick cos the workshop facilites are at this campus. Its wicked i luv it!!!

Nice one, im studying the same at lancashire. Wish my uni would let me take full advantage of their workshop!

I think a civic would be your best bet, a wee EG esi model can be bought for very little cash nowadays, and putting a DOHC vtec in is near enough a straight swap bar some wiring issues. Gives you a good option for engines too, anthing from 160 - 190 bhp depending on your budget. The Esi's comes with rear discs too so you dont need to worry about converting that either. I've a good few internet guides for it, if you want any drop me a pm.

Smallest 306 engine is 1.4 petrol.
If you do that though you would have to mess about with fuel lines and the fuel tank AFAIK.
Are you not looking at a performance upgrade though.Putting another 306 engine in another 306 would kind of be a sideways step if you know what i mean?
With regards diesel tuners i know of derv doctor and spoox components in england.
Over here there is a fella kennedy that works with the 1.9td engine hes from around banbridge i think.

Yea i agree its a bit sideways, but since diesel is increasingly becoming the way forward im thinking it mite be a good idea to start working with desiel engines to get an idea about properly tunning them. Kinda lookin ahead for my degree. But your right about it being alot od work to put a diesel in a petrol, wasnt thinkin when i said that, doh!

To be honest the 306 diesel engines are nothing in comparison to the vag diesel engines.
If you are looking to the future to properly tuning them id go for the vag diesels.
Vag can get 150bhp from a 1.9 diesel peugeot etc can only manage about 90bhp.
Good luck the course you are doing sounds great pity they didnt do one over here.

suspension will help but the corsas a heavy bastid in its own right, you'll have more to worry about than changing the centre of gravity.

Im being biased as hell here, but the Metro Gti with an MGF engine would definitely be different, plus its completely hassle free. Its a straight swap apart from changing the flywheel and pressing the rotor arm into the end of the inlet camshaft. You can use the Metro gearbox, exhaust, injection, engine mounts blah blah. Everything bolts together easily. Not to everyones taste though!

Yup, I had one. Wish I kept it now :sob:

Don't do the diesel/petrol conversion, there is absolutely no point. You have to change everything, fuel lines, loom the whole heap. Anyway a turbo derv 306 is only group 5 to begin with and there are hundreds of them to chose from.

How about Citroen AX GT/Pug 205 Rallye with 106 GTi engine?

What about a 94 Mk5 escort 1.3 3dr with full mot.. A 2.0 Zetec from a mondeo would be a cheap conversion..

Tlking of ford an you already know the ka wot about a ka with RST lump isnt to difficult but still not a straight swap. or for really hardship a 2L zetec in the ka but takes a lot of work in fitting it in.

Yeah i meant standard and rms clk is right VAG engines can be tuned to over 200bhp.
Very few if any peugeot 1.9/2.0 diesel engines can be tuned to that without serious money being thrown at it.
