Not a clue was done like that by one of the previous owners. Apparently can be a pain to do as the tape stuff if narrow and the chrome shows through a lot but depends how much patience you’ve got

Hoping to install a Bavarian Automotive Apple CarPlay box over the weekend! Not too difficult to install according to YouTube but we will see about that…

Still extremely happy with the car even though nearly everyone thinks it’s black Suppose I got 2 for 1 with colours then!

My sincerest apologies to the residents of Bangor as the car has had the valve unplugged from the pro exhaust as phone Bluetooth was interfering. Sooooo it sounds fantastic all the time in my opinion the pops and bangs are silly loud

Apple CarPlay install at the weekend by fitting a Bavarian Automotive carplay box… seems to be working alright so far just needs to work out where to connect the microphone cable too as I currently can’t make phone calls. Looks so much better than the mini nav system! Did have an issue with it only giving me a black screen when I turned it on on Saturday night but hoping that was just a random issue that won’t happen again

Didn’t want to just code Carplay in as I could only get the half screen version without a new head unit so this was the next best alternative.
Still allows access to the original system too which is helpful…

White challenge stripes added this morning by Signlines in Moneyreagh recommended by @Jonny_999 and their work looks perfect and was also rapid
Really happy with it…. Not to everyone’s taste but nice to add my own details to the car!
Got the white vinyl for the back too but not sure if I want to do it too or just leave it as bonnet stripes
Carbon bonnet scoop also incoming in the next few days

Who doesn’t love a little bit of carbon fibre Larger bonnet scoop added last night. 10 mins to install and completes the front end…
Not much left I’d like to do to it now apart from a nice set of wheels like OZ Ultraleggera or Motec Ultralight in bronze but there’s so few sets for sale and basically no one willing to ship them to NI it will be a waiting game to get the right set. No real rush as it looks great as it is anyway.

Would be a perfect commuter apart from maybe comfort… but buying a mini comfort isn’t really top of the priority list I’ve averaged 35mpg in my ownership which is plenty for me. I’m sure an SD would probably be closer to 60mpg but diesels don’t pop and bang

I drive a lowered, uprated engine mounts and ARB's, 500bhp S3 so not worried about comfort

Its very economical for what it is but always in the back of my mind I should be more sensible. Then I go drive it and forget about it lol

Cooper SD is a great wee car. We loved ours but just wasn't practical when the wee one came along. Great MPG too.

I got mine from Bavarian automotive for £240 and fitted myself. So far it’s been reasonably good but I have had it randomly switch off a few times mainly when starting the car or I’ve had to re-pair the Bluetooth connection twice. So it’s not without its flaws but it was the only way I could get full screen carplay without a new headunit which would have been much more expensive. So overall I’m happy but it’s not perfect

I had a new JCW in 2018 with the Bluetooth that could use 2 phones. It was great when it worked but at times we both had to pair our phones. Spotify used to drop for no reason.
My wife had a 2018 Countryman again new and her’s lost connection on a regular basis. Pita.

I had a 5 door SD and it was great. If I remember it averaged approx 50-55 and that was mixed driving with a commute that was very short- around 10mins. I only got rid of it as I needed more space so got a Clubman.

For once the lighting shows how green it is
No major updates apart from a major service last week and it passed MOT in December, now it’s good to go for the next while. Still loving it and even took it up the North Coast where it carried a surprising amount of stuff when used like a van!
Considering adding the rear challenge stripes to the back. I’ve got the vinyl as it was leftover when I got the front one on….but don’t trust myself to install it
The JCW also got a new stablemate M2C @Cproc14 needs a bit of noise to compete with the JCW tho
But anyway here’s a photo dump

Rear challenge stripes now added to the car… the vinyl had been sitting in the house since the front stripes were added as they get printed as a vinyl pack at signlines. I was curious to see how it would look and this is the result.
Definitely not to everyone’s taste but can always peel the vinyl off if I change my mind. Now that it has the full challenge stripes kit it’s a bit more complete rather than just a big bonnet stripe. It’s certainly unique
2 new 215/45/17 Michelin PS5 fitted by Ivan Kerr Bangor this week too which have been fantastic so far.
