Not much to right home about really with the Porker in terms of changes, thought I’d post a quick update now I’ve had it a year.
Being my first rear wheel drive car and mid engined I had to make sure to find the limit of the old rear snap, too much mid corner and the rear will try to come round but I’ve learnt how to control it now and still love driving it every time I go out in it.
Few common issues over the year which have been rectified. Front springs will corrode and snap over time especially when left hibernating over winter etc, front right went on me just before a trip to Enniskillen but replacement parts from Porsche and spyder performance and labour at AMG ended up not being as bad as I imagined
The hood on the 986/987 likes to start sitting over the outside trim eventually when the elastic that holds the tension stretches too much over time. Some clothes elastic and the wife’s sewing kit, tutorials online and it’s back to tight and flush . Happy to help anyone who may need this too and doesn’t fancy attempting it, plenty of elastic left
Cylinder 6 is misfiring at the minute, Alan suspects the coil as the heat from the exhaust tends to literally burn them out on these cars. Will get it fixed out soon.
Finally, changed the yellow fog lights our and with a new set of decent bulbs and a diode that cost a couple of pence in the light knob wires, I did the DRL mod so the fog act as DRLs during the day (before anyone says anything they are no brighter in the day than any other DRLs) but they can be turned off at the knob and used as fogs as needed on appropriate days.
Onwards to the next year
