wee quick job this morning. Replaced the shifter with a 545i shifter and e46 clubsport knob. You are supposed to do this under the car but Im a radge bastid so done it from the top. Wee clip was a balls tho so ended up sliding under to pop it back on again as I couldnt get the force while squeezing my fingers through the hole at the top.

what difference does using a 545 shifter make?

its a shorter throw. its not obvious from the pic but the distance from the ball to the hole at the bottom is longer meaning you get the same throw at the bottom for less movement up top.

Nice knob, I take it your linkage bushings are all good?

I'm sure this thread must be putting a few members in the mood for an e36 m3.

They felt ok but still a little play side to side. To do it right I need to drop the exhaust and prop so defo one for down the road. This should help a lot so for 30 mins work I think its good for now.

ideally Id like to fit this type of selector arm as it would have much less movement in it

Just imagine the stuff you'd be at @pablo if you had a garage with a lift! :grinning:

Nirvana!!!!

Next up is the clutch hose, I need to remove the slave cylinder and bleed it which is apparantly a bit of a balls so considering getting someone to do it for me as it would be literally 100 times easier on a lift.

Big Jessies the lot of you ;).

You do need a good vacuum or reverse bleeder BTW.

You are right, it would be many many times easier on a lift and the pretty much what tipped me over the edge to buy a lift at some stage.

Got my rear discs and pads done tonight. Everything came off nice and easy which was awesome. Also fitted the 10mm Eibach spacers I got off @Lyons.

Should get stuck into the fronts tomorrow.

Bit scabby under there. OCD wants to pull the lot for shotblasting and powdercoating!

they need a lick of silver, dont have any so will clean them up and refit later (y)

fronts were a bit of a balls after the easiness of the rears. only tried one side but the caliper is obviously sticking and wont push back far enough for the pads to fit over the new disc. Think Ill get 2 refurbed ones as the bleed nipple is welded on and the hose wasnt coming off too easily either

They actually arent in too bad shape, and seems there is a set of newish eibach springs in there too which is a bit of a score :grinning:
