Yamaha made a sweet little V8 too, basically two bike engines bolted together. Used in Volvos and Noble, etc.

Thanks for the positive feedback, always appreciatedπŸ‘πŸ˜Š

I just realised I don't have any coolant and I'm not sure what's the best type, or mix ratio.

I also bought some synthetic based DOT 5.1 hydraulic fluid a couple of years ago, looking at the manual it says use DOT 3.

A bit of research is required methinks πŸ€”

If the dot5 fluid is the silicone, avoid it. ATE dot4 is really good, I use it in the mx5 for clubman competition and it's great.

The dot 5 is silicon based, but dot 5.1 is not. I use dot 5.1 brake fluid in the Lotus and EVO and it's fully compatible with dot 4 and dot 3. And dot 4 in the other cars. The latter is just a bit cheaper and all that's really needed in a fast road car. Dot 5.1 comes into its own on a race track, it's just that bit more heat tolerant.

Dot 5.1 sounds right for your build, though dot 4 could do just fine too. Just depends on intended use.

Thanks that's very helpful Sven, haha I've been trying to add up the total amount of things that can potentially leak in the cooling, hydraulic, and fuel systems omg, basically everything πŸ€”πŸ€£ but yeah it's really nice not to be scraping the underside - been there done that!

Well seeing this was always meant to be a (budget) fast road car build, inevitably I had to drill a pair of holes in the nose cone for the number plate 😞

Interestingly the number plate looks massive I guess because it's a small car, oh well box ticked, move on...

Realised with hindsight I should redo the pictures of the front of the car with the number plate because it didn't look complete...

It's the same on the Lotus, the plate looks huge. Even when cut back as much as possible, like yours.

Some use the smaller motorbike plates. They look much better, just not sure about the legality of using them on the car. So I just use the normal size ones to avoid hassle.

Then again, with the amount of obviously illegal plates on the roads I don't know if police are really that bothered any more...

Plenty of options without having to drill holes. Magnets behind the bumper would have been nice. Also, because you have a 1 in the plate you could have got a slighter shorter plate. Or bit extreme, but spend Β£250 on a 5 digit plate if you want it smaller looking.

Magnets and stickers and stuff don't really work when the bodywork is curved like that though.

On the Lotus I have two brackets that bolt in underneath the bumper, and then the plate goes on straight with stickers on those. Keeps the plate low down too which is nice.

I'm taking a bit of time off the project to concentrate on earning enough to get through next winter.
And save up for another Tillett for the passenger side, got to be done really 😁 although I'm not looking forward to the price 😱 haha.
Hope you're having fun in the Elise, I must have a look at your page, sorry I've been completely engrossed in the Fiat.
