Looks great in the booth, it'll be amazing when its all put back together! Still planning to track it after this work?
just went through all the posts and its been an amazing build can't wait to see the finished car
Keep you busy through the madness, no better time for it!
Used a teng socket set to take apart all full mk2 golf. Never broke or gave any problems. Not much been going on of late.
My mate delivered the bits for the bench so outside spraying them in the good weather.

Hoping to get scaffold planks tomorrow and then make it up. Then he’ll come and measure for the tops.
Meanwhile, I started getting stuff out of upstairs.

So the fun begins.
Once the bench is in I can get the rest of the hubs etc split as trying to do anything without a vice is poison. Then it’ll all go for blasting.
Going to order some new tools too and have been looking at Teng sockets and ratchets and a good torque wrench to start off. Anyone who has bought anything recently or can recommend would be good
Bench in and tops on. Just a few sockets left to wire in and the garage is pretty much done. Then wait for the blaster to reopen and the bits will be away for a freshen up.

Have a full workshop manual in pdf to help build it, with torques and expanded diagrams so having the screen there makes the difference.
Also got an update on the rocker which is done.

Bit by bit we’ll get there
With work being pretty mental of late I haven’t got near anything but got a bit more done this evening.
Had to go out home to use the press for the bushings and as usual,. It took longer than expected lol.

Started on the front lower arms.
Shock and compliance bushings came out no problem but then the camber busing was a different story.
The outside of the bushing was too wide to have anything to press against so had to cut a slot in the bush to get down to the flange to get it to work.

It worked a treat and was able to get them out without having to burn anything which is what usually happens with these.
Next were the upper control arms.

Again a bit tricky due to the size of the outer side of the bush.
Cut 2 slots and was able to get a spanner in to hold it and press the arm down rather than the bushing.
Will have to get the rest done in the coming evenings but good progress.
While I was there i saw the worst piston I’ve ever seen.

Any ideas what caused this?, as my guess was wrong.
