So, the Skoda has moved to pastures new due to a caravan upgrade and needing so erhign heavier to tow with. Would have like something with higher MPG, lower tax and insurance but anything capable of towing a twin axle caravan was all similar running costs, so went with what I want rather than what I need.

Found on Facebook marketplace, in Cornwall, it is an SE Lux with all the accessories I wanted and it had a sunroof. 126k, good service history and a full MOT.

No real plans other than drive it. Has some minor niggles to sort and will get a full service when it hits 130k

I don't believe so, they go have 4wd issues, the angle gear gives up on life but as long as they are maintained they are fine.

Not much to update, just loving daily Volvo life again. Got the turbo issue sorted, turned put to be 2 faulty new boost control valves! The one the car came with looked like a cheap ebay special, so I ordered a (alleged) Peirberg valve which changed the charistic of the fault and allowed me to tow the caravan, but still wasn't right. Eventually the car lost all boost, following advice online and my own judgement, (and the shear lack of info available of how the vacuum system works) I pulled the cat and cleaned it, although I knew this wiuldnt solve the problem as it was no different with the front pipe off, it was at this point I realised the turbo wasn't boosting at all.
Turbo removed and taken to Turboshak, they tested it and throughly inspected it as, in their words, those turbos don't give bother, and of course, no fault found! It was these guys explained how the system was supposed to work and I was able to diagnose the second fault valve. BTW, highly recommend Turboshak for ANYTHING turbo related.
So new valve ordered, another Peirberg and the difference between this one and the previous "peirberg" was night and day. Over 1000 miles later, including nearly 500 towing miles moving house, and I'm pleased to report all is good.
Next task is to sort the AWD, it needs the angle gear replaced, common fault on the pre 2006 XC's.

Hasn't been much to update with, since the initial teething problems were sorted all I've done is change the oil and fit a few tyres, 12k miles of happy motoring since May.
Now approaching 140k and with tin tenting season due to kick off this weekend, the long awaited full service was completed. All filters changed, sump dump of the auto box and 2 new rear shocks due to a pot hole finishing g one off on my way to Bangor yesterday. (still to be fitted, hadn't planned to be fitting these the day we head to Dublin!)

Also decide to try and do something with the front bumper, map gas! Hell of an improvement and now I know the bumper can be brought back to its original colour I'll look for a more longer lasting solution.
