What reliable 4x4 - £6500 budget?

What reliable 4x4 - £6500 budget?
No RR or Toyota Landcruisers etc as too big and expensive
Wanted for a family member, diesel or petrol doesn`t matter as it won`t do many miles but must be easy run and reliable.
It will be in a few fields but not like on an off road day, mainly rough lanes.

ML320 that has had the oil cooler seals sorted. Just make sure it has a full history and gearbox oil changes every 50k or so.

Cant comment what they're like off road though.

I thought about a Q7 once but talked to @Jas Lad and he quickly put me off. Expensive to maintain.

I phoned him about an X5 and got the same honest advise.

She still wants an X5 or a Q7 though, not happening.

I'm a **** salesman, I'll get customers whatever they want but when they bring it back in 6 months because of X Y and Z I can only say "You were warned!"

I'd rather sell someone nothing than sell them the wrong car.
