You can retrofit one of the more modern VW headunits for the China market into the mk5/6 with Carplay now if you want the OEM look

wireless carplay seems like a gamechanger! Especially since the charging port on my iphone needs replaced.

Have been running a Esrin in the Cayenne for about a year now. It's a pretty good bit of kit we can stream to tablets in the back, watch youtube on it then all the carplay add in's plus linkage with torque for on the go diagnostics and stats. Plus the latest versions have pretty decent sound processors in them so it actually sounds good too. The only bad thing I can think about it is it doesn't auto dim the screen at night for some reason but that's literally one press of a button so hardly a deal breaker.

I fitted an Amaseaudio unit to the Sharan, Amazon special, but see the CarPlay (I only needed Android) is dongle only. I certainly can't complain for £250ish quid, does all it needs to do, reverse camera and all

got it fitted, no major drama and was able to leave most of the crap unplugged as all I want is carplay

seems pretty good so far, wireless carplay is a gamechanger for me!
