Also noticed when i went out last night a quick run to town ( new cam sensor installed, ecu not cleared at this point) it took a good 5 seconds of cranking to fire up. And it was a real slow crank, as if battery was flat and couldnt throw the engine around quick enough. It normally cranks nice and fast and catches within a second of turning the key. Went out today and started once by my mate no issue and again there now when i went to test drive it no issue. Was surprised when it acted the tit last night

Hope its not the injectors

Beginning to think it be worth removing them and get them tested. Know much about this ?

Also, wouldnt mind someone looking at the turbo setup, all the vanes talk etc is beyond me

Daviddunlop83, what ford forum would i be best to sign up to for this we mission to get it to a more specialist audience, ACSR is close to me too, any opinions ? Willy McGaffin.

If your wanting then properly tested and if needed repaired use the company I linked before.

Alot of these people who remanufacture the injectors don't or can't issue new codes if required

IIRC TBF Thompson have a Delphi setup and can properly test the injectors but are unable to repair them

A friend has said somewhere in ballymena he has used before. He said to number them what cylinder they come out of and put them back in same cylinder is the method he has used (mechanic, first thing he said was injectors when i described the problem, drop out at high load) TBH, the failing at high load is pointing me toward the injector dropping to much back to the return and not fueling enough for the high load hence it throws the towel in.

Ive heard of people doing that, tho it depends on what they change in the injectors when they remanufacture them, there is one company who gives them new codes only if needed. Alot of companies are not able to generate new codes if needed and just put them back in same cylinder. Personally if i was getting it done, id be using the company who has the proper delphi equipment and is able to recode if needed.

Been giving this a bit of thought, could be a money pit. Also needs new disks and pads all around and 2 new rear calipers and handbrake cables and hear knock from front so maybe pair track rod ends or ball joint or something, MOT in feb. So, tempted to just limp on til feb, then call it a day. Will need £300-£400 of maintenance alone for MOT. Bought it in April for £1000
The above fault could potentially swallow hundreds of pounds and not be corrected,
opinions ? Wonder what the old breakers will give for it in feb, or run it through auction ticket'less

I would get the fault diagnosed properly first then decide
Reading through internet there is no end to people that have diagnosed half the stuff for the fault to remain, if I knew it was just straight forward def one thing I would fix it. But I really can't be bothered changing x,y&z for not to get to bottom of it. Already done the cam sensor, all be it cheap but still

That would do me, tbh. As said I know I got few quid to spend on it soon.

Do you know anyone that is able to diagnose these properly ?

I wouldnt want to say anyone for def, incase they would diagnoise it wrongly over here.

May be worth trying ford, even an hours labour to see what they come up with. If it isnt the injectors and something cheap you may kick yourself for not fixing it thats all im thinking.

Yeh, i understand that. If it was one thing and i knew it would fix it i would sort it, as its a good we motor and wont mind maintaining it. I am interested to see what faults are stored in ECU now. I am rather cautious, if it was a boost problem i should likely have a boost related code, if fueling i should have a fuel related fault. If nothing is coming up, who knows.

Yeah wonder what codes will show up now. When you getting it plugged in again?

Sometimes the dealer computer can see alot more than aftermarket readers, migth be worth ringing ford and seeing what the quote to plug it in.

Whats up with the 2 rear calipers?

Could buy a scanner myself for £60, all be it one the cheaper ones (which i meant to ask too, are the cheaper scanners worth the effort or crap all together ?)
