So, after 12 years of the Impreza it went to a new owner last Tuesday, he’s a friend so I’ll still get to see what he’s up to with it …

… anyway, always wanted to try these and the time felt right, while we can still enjoy such things.

2005 (later in year with updated IMS bearing) Seal Grey Boxster S 3.2, spec as per picture attached.

Travelled to Birmingham on Sunday early via plane and had to scoot on round to Nuneaton to pick this up, had been dealing with the private seller for a few weeks getting all the pics and stamps in book and history and whatnot down to a tee so I was happy, as with the cost of travel and whatever can’t just pop over then really decide not for me so did as much homework as I could and the usual crash and HPI checks etc, all clear.

Most of these pics are courtesy of the last owner, but it didn’t miss a beat across England or up from Dublin home. Had to catch the 8.30pm boat at Holyhead and only got away from his house about 4.30. Made the boat with 10 mins to spare and I wasn’t able to stop along the way for food or a break but it performed brilliant.

I’ve given it a wash and usual new owner tidy, some new wipers and rear number plate bulbs changed otherwise it’s booked in for a service at McMillen at start of October and then it’ll likely hibernate most of winter until end of Feb or March. Other bits and pieces that are age worn I will attend to as I go through the years when it.

Anyway, the awaited snaps 🫰

Very nice, but I have heard some pretty bad reports of McMillian so I would avoid and use somewhere else.

I may well just have to contact AMG and see if he can sort me out then, I guess I can cancel McMillen as it’s not exactly round the corner just yet.

I had forgot about AMG, few people had mentioned him when I was looking a car, just happened to call into McMillen today and they seemed legit enough but want the car from a Saturday to the following Saturday

Stunning Norm, perfect wheels and spec looks great with the sports chrono. You can buy facelift/style rear lights which will take away the "old/996" look - I will try look up the ones I was considering changing too when I had my Cayman

Revo do a map for them, had it on mine. Only made 6-7bhp but you could def feel a better response and George McMillan asked me about it when it was in for a service when he took it a drive without me telling him

Looks like they offer a Stage 2 as well to accommodate exhaust and intake

I want another one now lol :joy:

I’d agree with this! they have been outstanding with me, parts are cheaper than anywhere else 99% of the time too!
Phoned them today for a price on some parts and was surprised how well priced they were compared to some of the “specialist” sites online, saved about a tenner (on 50odd pound parts) so that’s better in my pocket or in the fuel tank.

Got cleaning the inside of it today, although must say it was pretty clean to start with but easiest car I’ve ever had to hoover etc as when the roofs down you can stand up and hoover away without curling up into a ball to get into any nooks.

Probably be out and about tomorrow and the c&c on Sunday as it’s last outings before the service but can’t complain so far, still embracing that flat six noise and the old school initial air cooled noise it still seems to throw out 😃

On a side note, can anyone recommend what soft top brush to buy, want to give it another clean with the right type of brush before putting any waterproofing on it

The froot / frunk struts love to go on these and having been conked a few times on the head since getting it I had to fix it.

Stabilus make the OEM ones so probably just the exact same minus any Porsche markings and literally 3 minutes to install, can actually hear the gas in the strut now and it pulls the bonnet up on its own. Sometimes the simple things make your day.

Installed a crest on the wind deflector a few weeks ago as well, sorry I’ve no great pics of it but still happy with her and on a positive the service at AMG went though a breeze ans didn’t need anything out of the norm, seems it’s a good one 👍🏻

Lovely car . Seal grey with lobster claw wheels is a great look. My 987 is one of my favourite cars I’ve ever owned

Beautiful car - These have aged really really well!

I don't get the AMG vs McMillan etc debate. McMillan look after my turbo, our RS3 and all previous Porsches, never had a single issue over the last 10 years. In fact one day I had a noise from the turbo, called George and it just so happened he was passing my house (I live in Tyrone!) - he called in, (at 7pm), listened for the noise and helped me diagnose it. I was then able to fix it myself.

For every McMillan story I hear there's alway a AMG one. McMillan is expensive I suppose, but the labour rate is the same as most VW garages.

Anyways, health to enjoy!
