Taxing Over The Phone?

Saturday, you can go to the post office and do that - if the V5 is in your name.

Only some post offices though. It's super handy.

No post office can tax it for the first time in new ownership.

Got a mot booked for this Monday which is handy, so by Tuesday it should be sorted.

I taxed the BX in the big PO at end of Botanic 5 weeks ago and I had just got the V5 and it had never been taxed before in my name.

As I said, V5 has to be in your name.

Strange, my local post office wouldn't do it.
It also says (which I never noticed) along the top of the renewal reminder
"This form cannot be used a the post office"

Dunno how long a "while" is but I have taxed a month out of date with no probs. Theyll just charge you 13months tax

Getting stupidly difficult to get through on this number! I ended up downloading an auto redialer unto my phone and leaving it sitting for 30mins before it connected!

Well, well over 200 redials on Monday to get through, seems it it getting more and more popular. Why cant you do it online and print your own disc? thats what I want to know.

Shouldn't the reason be why do you even need a tax disc? All the boys at the side of the road scan the number plates and check a database as far as I know!

its being phased out anyway. And merged with swansea will all be available online then imo.

Anyime I phone about a cherished transfer etc, the recorded message always starts by saying the taxing over the phone option is unavaiable due to demand. I didnt actually know it was possible to get through at all.

You are phoning the 08xxxxxxxxx number though, if you phone the direct number with the coleraine area code itllhave a little more luck.

I thought it was the general Coleraine number, but when the girl picked up the day (finally), she answered it by saying it was the 'tax line'.

Tis. Very handy but there are only a few of them and the queue is a max of 5 people though getting into the queue is a bit of a task.

still beats trekking to the PO with all your crap and sitting waiting for X minutes to find you forgot something.

there is an odd sense of achievement though once you make it into the queue of 5. Makes you feel like a chosen one.


Or maybe i'd just been on hold too long by that point and lost all power of natural thought.
