They look amazing together. It'll be a hard project to top!

On the topic of vintage helmets, any idea where I'd get a Kangol one like this?

Simon thanks for your kind words.

Not sure I'm ready just yet for another but maybe next year sometime with a bit of luck.

As for the Kangol try eBay. They pop up on there though that looks like a different paint job to anyone I've seen. I'll keep my eye out for you. Looks like it could be a Kangol Falcon 2 but don't quote me on that!

My dad had one of those Kangol helmets in white. We shared it, so when he took me on the back as a kid, he gave it to me to wear and he just took a chance on not meeting the police, lol.
I think he got it from the Kays catalogue around 1976.

Here we go again

My fault this time and my want of as close to perfection as possible. It's a terrible trait.

I'll post more in the next few weeks. Replacing old with new, more Powdercoating and some tidier Parts being fitted to improve the looks, quality and use.

Awesome Job. Love cafe racers.

Any update since the last. Assume you had it out during summer.

So where do I start lol.

This thing has fought me from the start from wrong advice with engine paint and it being painted countless times, to me being a plonker and breaking something, it breaking down in Portrush, and the Gearbox Disintegrating out on a run .

But thankfully that's now all sorted and it runs sweet as a nut now.

As I said in the first post, i had wanted to five it to my Dad but he can't get comfortable on it so he's been out on my Monster with me on this so that's been good.

I'm on the lookout next year to build something for him hopefully.

Roll back to last winter...
New Hand Controls (switches)
New Front Indicators
New Digital Speedo
New Grips
New Mirror
Drilled Front Disc
Engine Fully Stripped again and everything was Ceramic Coated Matt Black
Powdercoated the Seat Pan Satin to Match other Satin Parts
Polished a few more bits.
Tidied Small Bits that was bugging me

I wouldn't be sure about the lithium battery. I thought they were a no-no on older bikes because the regulator/rectifier isn't accurate enough or can give them too high a voltage?
Just something I heard, no experience of it.

Hi Apis, they are a complete no go with the Old charging system as it can over charge etc etc but i now have a Ricks Electronics Regulator Rectifier which limits the Charge to the battery and stops power Spikes too, this then makes it safe to run a Lithium Battery (y)

Tremendous work, loving that. Fuel tank is brilliant.

Lol cheers mate!

Genuinely can't wait to shoot this. My favourite bike in these shores..

Nor can I, and it is happening early next year. I promise lol

Great work on this. Looks awesome.

Thanks Ian, been a work in Progress, ive never done anything like this in my Life and nor has my Dad, been a learning Curve for sure. I'd def do it again and what we know now would make it easier!

Nice to try something new and different and perhaps out of your comfort zone, you've done a great job. Each project gets easier with experience, and cheaper as you make less mistakes/wrong product choices. Even with that I still find areas that I would differently, I would hope that by my third project however that I can get everything right first time.

This has definitely given me motivation to do something similar once I have my garage setup.
