Is this tread not like someone coming on and saying they have a mk3 Escort as a daily driver, driven 12 months of the year rain hail and snow and it's never been welded. Yes I am sure there are some somewhere but it would most certainly be the exception rather than the rule.

it was posted more to highlight the fact that people cant look after them as a rule of thumb. Northern Ireland seems bred on reactive maintenance

If you maintain the car in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements that should be enough tbh. My Fiesta had a service every 10k miles and the oil checked and topped up as required in between and that was it. The first Puma engine lasted around 180k miles before it finally let go with nothing more than this.

All down to how you maintain them, more important is the weak link behind the steering wheel. I drive my car with total mechanical sympathy, like a piece of glass that's going to smash at anytime :p.
I thought these failed every 70k miles, you should start a thread about it, to disprove the 1000's of people who have had them fail at 70k miles

would of been cheaper throwing engines in it rather than maintaining it no doubt

but then again.. there are one or two smokers live to be 100..

FINALLY... but it is good to see a little less stigma attached, now everyone go buy one! They're easily good for 100k plus, always have been
