“It’s a cure for depression, this car, it really is. You just can’t be in a bad mood when you’re driving it.” Quote from a review Clarkson did on the 2016 MX5.
I would have to agree, this is such a fun car to drive. Without getting too gloomy, I inherited this car from my dad, so I figured I'd do my best to enjoy it like he did himself.

It's a 2016 Mazda MX5 Recaro Sport. It is one of 600 made (400 in ceramic white and 200 in soul red)
2.0 petrol 6-speed manual with 160BHP
LSD and Bilstein dampers
Sports aero kit - black front, side and rear skirts and boot spoiler
LED cornering headlights
Heated Recaro seats and matching alcantara trimmed dashboard etc
Keyless entry, MZD touchscreen interface, satnav, Bluetooth, DAB, Bose sound system with headrest speakers, heated seats, cruise control, lane departure warning, and parking sensors

Some photos from earlier (got a bit carried away with DOF 8o|)

C+C welcome
Adam.

Thats is lovely, and i dont normally like them. If ur looking for ideas, you can get a really nice twin exit rear end, like below.

Obviously sad how you’ve ended up with it Adam, however, that is a class wee car. 👍🏼

That is a stunning motor. Maybe the exhaust tips could do with a bit of beefing up.

That's a great little car to have and even better that it was your dad's too. Must be great around some of the roads in your area. TBH, I wouldn't touch a thing other than filling every cavity and surface underneath with good rustproofing to keep it nice.

I had a short blast in this, and its great fun to drive.

I agree with the above, it doesnt need anything cosmetically at all :grinning:

Lovely car.

I wouldn't do anything to it either other than maybe a set of springs.

You also def need to plan a long road trip with it.

Love this shape of MX-5, still look very fresh in design even being 5 years old now.

Wouldn't change anything else. Bet it's a laugh to drive.

Also never been a big fan but that is awesome!! Nicely kitted out and like wise I would leave it alone. Get in it, drive it & enjoy the memories. That’s a keeper!

That looks brilliant Adam, the colour really suits it. And best of all, you know it's entire backstory and that only adds to the sentimentality and character of such a car - lots of people immediately sell things like this, so it's nice to see you're going to enjoy it in the same way he did and drive it like it was intended.

That's one of the nicest Mk4's I've seen - the seats are perfect. I'd put a fruitier exhaust on if it were me and spend the rest of my time/money making sure it doesn't rust/rot in the long term - Dynitrol/Bilt Hamber/Waxoyl everywhere to protect it.

That's absolutely cracking! Those seats look class.

Only thing I'd do is take it to BBR GTi for some fettling and maybe springs.

I actually have a hankering for an NC with the folding lecky roof as a car for touring about in with the Mrs but she hates the idea of a car without a roof.. 🤷‍♂️

The NC's run very high ground clearance, this was my NB with a +40mm lift and gravel tyres beside 2 standard NC's....

Lol I have a folding hardtop NC and it literally looks like it's on stilts.

As an aside if you decide to go for one let me know as I may have to get a sensible car for going back to the office in the next couple of months 🤮

Ive noticed a few new cars recently with the full length light across the boot (I seen a newish Porsche along with some other makes). I saw this modification on an MX5 forum and thought it looked good but also
sort of OEM so I bought it for £40 and fitted it this evening. There is a little light bleed around the edges of the boot but in person not as noticeable as in the photos. Plug and play, 20 minutes to fit 👍🏼
