Had some time this afternoon to install OEM aluminium pedals and dead pedal.

What an absolute basstard to fit. Had to put the pedals in boiling water and use some Vaseline to wiggle them on.

Overall, happy.

My running boards arrived and got them installed last night thanks to BBSBOY and Fluff

First for everything and was exciting to work out how to approach this and see the finished product. As far as I know these are not factory order and have to be installed by dealers upon delivery if spec'd by new owner.

First of all, they had to strip the under side of the trays and covers, peel back the sticky under seal to reveal the locating holes. Once this was done, they had to press in the riv nuts:

Then attach the brackets to secure the running boards:

You get the idea.

Then line up and secure the running boards them selves:

Serious beef on these boards and weigh a good bit too!

All lined up and secure, couple of final install pictures and will wait until I get the car washed before some proper pictures. Overall, I am very happy with the end result and helps the look of the car!

On top of installation - you have to cut the standard under trays. Mine over the years have been damaged so I have had to order up two new trays at roughly £40 each.

You are supplied with specific covers for the new brackets and just have to cut the OEM trays to fit around the brackets - we will get this completed some evening next week.

Good job! I'm sure they werent cheap.

German eBay FTW - so many Q5 parts available, for example, picked up these leather armrests for the door cards for £20 each. Off a used Q5 obviously but compare them to the 8P A3 and the 8V S3 they were a bargain and should set off the interior nicely.

Hopefully get these and the new window switches fitted this weekend.

Had some time this afternoon and fitted the leather armrests, carbon trim and electric switches. I’ll need another day to fit the centre console trim as that’s a strip out job!

My RHD Carbon trim arrived today and coincidentally I sold my LHD one and my side skirt extensions for my S3 on eBay as well. Good day :grinning:

2 minute install, job done! Looks well with the leather armrests and aluminium switches!

@ruairi83 off eBay but then had to buy the RHD trim from Audi themselves through Crewe Audi who are members on Audi Sport and gave some member discount.

It is my Great Uncle's 90th this month and he is having a party on the 21st in Aboyne, Scotland - great reason for a road trip!

One I have done before in my S3 so this will be a lot different in the Q5

S3 Post:

Audi S3 8V

And I get to do this drive again, cannot wait!

Even though I will have the wee man in the Q5, I am sure I will enjoy it just as much!

Planned route, with a stop over in Glasgow to stay with my Aunt before heading to Glenshee to check the snow if its skiable then over to Aboyne to our hotel for a few days then repeat the journey back!

This is part of the old Military road where I think I went left at Crathie

What a day. Literally just into bed getting the Q5 prepped and packing done for our trip to Scotland in the morning. Wife isn’t well so having to juggle all the prep and the Wee one def had my hands full!!

So wind back to yesterday when I took delivery of my Audi roof box:

I was under the impression that it came with the roof bars!! Oops! So mad panic last night trying to locate/borrow a set for the weekend.

Fortunately I came across an advert on gumtree that had a set for sale 29 days ago. I text the owner and luckily they were still for sale.

Fast forward to this morning and I met the guy at Loughshore and picked up a brand new, unused set of genuine Q5 roof bars for about a sixth of the price!

Next up was to tackle the centre console and install the carbon trim. This is a strip out job:

Job well done and fits perfectly. Bonus being, no extra screws left over!!!

Next was to fully wash and dry but no photos as it ran on very late into the evening.

Was late into the night before I got the box on the roof so no photos until the morning or on the boat when we set sail. Can’t wait for another road trip through Scotland. Been watching loads of Carfections YouTube channel today.
