Dido…. The S4 system is 10 light years ahead of the mk4 golf I was previously running, but that’s a great touch!Would love that for the Q5
With the A5 being now 15 years old and the MMI 2G being even older, it was clunky and didn’t really offer any sort of external infotainment.
Ok it had Audi Music Interface which allowed usb and streaming but it wasn’t reliable with modern smartphones.
Mr12Volt offered a CarPlay box for MMI 2G and being pleased with their DAB unit I also had fitted, I decided to give it a go
So today I pulled the dash apart yet again and get stuck in. Mostly plug and play which was nice but with MMI 2G having its own control head and gateway it added more bypass looms which I had to squeeze into the back of the cd changer.
Couple of hours messing about with cable routing and result as expected. Happy now to have wireless CarPlay, usb input, mirroring, video playback, google maps, Spotify and everything else that comes with it.

How do you find the Mr12Volt now you have a in a few months? Thinking of getting one for my '09 A6. Signed up to their emails in the hope there would be a sale on at some point or a wee discount code to be had but no joy on that front so far!
Just read this start to finish. Great work put in so far and fair play to you working with a higher mile car too. Proves what they can do with a bit of maintenance!
Looking forward to seeing how this progresses with the hybrid etc
Class!Thank you, only seeing this now.
But yes, high mileage doesn't scare me at all, for the price I paid for the car I wasn't expecting much but I got 18 A4 pages worth of service history printouts from Tutts of Dorking with it and knew immediately I scored. I didn't even drive the car when I was collecting it as I seen it as a high mile 217k 14 year old car for £3000 (at that time!) and took it at face value.
The 14k I've done in it haven't been easy miles either, so the drivetrain as a whole has been well stress tested! Apart from the issues which were self inflicted with the pump change etc, the car itself has only really cost me 2 door locks, 2 front suspension arms, 2 rear suspension arms and the oil pressure switch.
The hybrid will be a wee bit away yet, maybe something for the autumn/winter months to fettle at.
I was advised by a tuner that the stock intercooler is plenty unless your going big power or heat soak is an issue ( i have a VW)Currently trying to decide it it’s worth doing fmic and downpipe before map but it only really gains 20bhp extra for that unless you do the turbo too
