Hi folks

I've recently started an office job which means ive much more time to peruse the internet! At breaktime of course... and ive been getting back into forums so i thought id introduce myself through my not so inconspicuous car!

5B809A60-7147-403E-B3C1-333F6B2E7654_converted.jpg

Spec

2000 D2 S8 - 4.2 40V
Recent 6 speed manual conversion
Airlift performance front struts and slam specialties rear bags
Rotiform LSR - sold as of 4/11/23
Racing green metallic with beige interior
Nardi steering wheel and BFI shift knob
Full tints - because i needed it to be even more inconspicuous
Middle box delete and decat

Has been a great project over the time ive had it (around 5 years) and its put me through every emotion to building a project car, mainly depression and desperation but its kinda cool so i guess its worth it

Sorry for the iphone pics - short history to follow

Oh My God What GIF

Incredible! Spotted that on Facebook recently, might've been in an ad for wheels, canā€™t remember.

I remember seeing a Nogaro Blue one at the Belfast motor show when it was released. Have wanted an S8 ever since!

These are now sold so im on the lookout for something else for next year!

Thinking Audi Cantonas or maybe BBC CH to show off a big brake upgrade

Last winter was the worst time ive had with the car. It was originally meant to be just a manual swap and tidy up which turned into an attempted engine rebuild after i overheated her coming home from a wedding. I say attempted because i had everything built back up again with mostly new parts and couldnt get the engine to run right, ended up being the valve guides loose when heated so it was dumping oil into the cylinders and causing misfires! They were still tight when cold so i thought they would be ok. Ended up getting an engine for it and installing it with the manual just to get me going in the meantime. Car drives soooo much nicer with the manual tho

Plan this winter is big brake upgrade, tidy up the engine bay further and some new wheels! Id also like to change the colour of the interior

Hoping to get to some shows in the mainland next year and i should be at most local shows. Thanks for reading!
Thanks for the replies guys, didnt even give me time to get my story out :joy:

I'll keep this updated over winter

Any wheels suggestions are welcome also!

Beyond epic.

Have to say, love the big concave rotors on it, but then it looks epic on every set of wheels posted.

Not sure on BBS CH's being a motorsport type wheel on a big land yacht, although no doubt would be epic too. Do you have a wheel size in mind, 19s or 20s?

A set of 19 or 20" OZ futura's would be epic and show your brakes, but hens teeth to find, and likely be Ā£3-4k

I'm not even remotely a Audi fan, but I love this! I've had a few XJ Jags but I've always wanted a D2 S8. They're just not as cheap as the used to be though.

-Best year of A8/S8 IMO
-Best Colour
-Best Engine
-Best Interior

+Airbags
+Manual

This is top tier executive motoring for me. I'm sure the manual wakes it up a bit too.

@stuartyvilla I was there for a while yeah! Was a good chance for me to get some miles in after the conversion, only just starting to trust the car again now after what happened last year

@Ian A seeing the pics of those rotors has actually put me in the notion of 20s again, im leaning towards cantonas just unsure if they'd be too flat. Love the wheel just unsure about them on this. The CHs in question are 20x10.5 so i think they'd fit the car perfectly just as you say its not a sporty vehicle! Futuras a good shout but dont think i could bring myself to spend 2k+ on wheels, dream wheel is 19x10 BBS LM but they're mad dough!

@ace275 @carmad. The manual has totally changed the way the car drives! Its a c5 allroad box so fairly long ratios but v8 torque kind of matches it i feel? When she comes on cam she still sets you back into your seat but it doesn't feel just as quick, i think its cause you're doing more work to get there

Iā€™m a big Cantona fan, but donā€™t think they would work as well on a D2.

In my head the rotors shouldnā€™t suit a D2 either, but imo they are actually the best on it from the above photos.

Aye Cantonas are a very flat face wheel. Above wheels make me think this suits either big concave or something with a dish.

Looks great, I had seen the wheels listed on Marketplace and thought they suited the motor brilliantly!

Thats the only problem is that they suited it perfect so dunno why im changing, just bored of them i suppose

Very on the fence with the cantonas, i think it needs concave or dish but then at the same time the cantona is just such a nice elegant design and i love an oem wheel. The other option i seen listed is a set of artec turbo p, would need built to spec but i think they could work

My ig is the same as my username if you want to see more pics!

Not feeling the rotors personally, look far to curvy and modern for that car. Cantona's are a good shout or classic BBS LM for something of that era and, even though they were done to death years ago, I still feel like something like this beast could pull them off perfectly.

I love this.

I have seen it at a few shows and it always stands out as my winning car. It just ticks all the boxes.

I picked up these calipers a while ago, the fronts actually came from California and they were like brand new could probably even reuse the seals if i was that stingy :eyes:

I ordered Epytec adapters last friday and they arrived yesterday, very well finished part

The only issue is they're for a b5 and they run a different rear bearing to the d2 which means they're not bolt on

It wouldn't take much clearancing to get them to fit but im just hesitant to butcher them when they're such a nice piece of engineering! And the fact they were expensive so ive emailed them back to see what i should do

The yellow marker is what i would need cut away and its absolutely doable, they would be ground to fit already if they weren't so dear :joy:

Fronts are a straight fit with a sleeve to go over the bolt! No size upgrade over the original 2 pots but they're cooler  what more reason do I need

Thinking about cerakoting these as well if anyone has any experience with it?

I've done DIY cerakote William and am happy to chat about it.

I know Andy who worked in Nu Luk also does it and it accredited for it if you want it done professionally.

I have the only wheels which should be on that motor lol 20 inch final edition
I like oem but i think they would be too oem for me :joy: I think cause they're flat faced? But a cool wheel nonetheless, thanks
