Update time! After getting quotes from a few wheel refurbishing companies and one not wanting to touch the wheels unless I split them, I done just that. Actually enjoyed the process too. Sledge was involved but only needed one solid knock and they pop right out, very satisfying! Thinking ill get the centres painted and polish the barrels myself because diamond cut is a disaster. Also have half a notion to turn down the back face of the centres for a little more dish on show. I have 16mm of material from the mating face to the bolt seat, is that sensible or leave them as is? They don't look thick in the pic below because they curve away but they're a very heavy centre!

Finally got all the bits I was waiting on to rebuild the rear suspension too so took into it yesterday. Went suspiciously well bar shearing a brake fitting. Epytec adapters wont be here until mid feb so she's off the lift so and out of the way again. Very satisfying to see it all built up again. Hope the polybushes arent too hard, they were the softer version that Strongflex offer.

New stuff is class  only replaced the bolts and bits I had to and it still worked into a small fortune. Better be able to feel the difference anyway :joy:

Are there reverse mounted bolts into the backs of the spokes on those or is it just using the bolts you can see?

@natogreen16v Just the ones you can see Connor! They thread into a bottoming hole in the barrel. I was thinking getting 6mm taken off the back of them, would just give that small bit more dish surely that would still be strong enough. Means id have to shorten the bolts too, they're nearly too nice to cut. Whether its worth the bother or not I don't know

For the weight of your car and the size of those wheels with 20 bolts holding them I wouldn't bother

@natogreen16v you're thinking of the creaks the stage made at Eurotreffen :joy: didn't want to use too big a spacer but sure what's 5mm. Any advice on what to do with the lips? Cut and lacquer or polish?

Aye I don't want to be going through the stage when I have you up for an interview 😜

100% polish them. Diamond cut never lasts and your heart will be broke splitting them again

Mini update time! Cars off the lift in the meantime while modifying my GFs car with the aim to take it to Dubshed! First time wrapping a car so pray for our relationship 🙏

The brake adapters landed early from Epytec and @EF Ian got my calipers Cerakoted last weekend. Very impressed with his attention to detail, what else could you expect with multiple high quality builds on here I suppose. IC Restorations and Coatings on IG, highly recommended. In love with the colour I just hope it lives up to its reputation and cost.

First pic is the tiny 2 pots for my bike project! The bronze looks great against the black carrier. The colour gets lighter the more light its under, so much so they nearly look gold. Ordered black Porsche decals for them but might revert to light grey or silver I think would be nice. Very pleased anyway. The fronts need a deeper offset disc than what I had ordered so I'm waiting on them coming to get pics of the front. Caliper is very close to both the inside of the wheel and the droplink but ill be using spacers anyway so will shave 3mm off the adapter to give a bit more clearance at the back. Need to order the hoses now but epytec is expensive for them, I'll see what discount they can offer on them with sending them pics of the adapters and decide where to go from there.

Sending the centres off next week to get redone and have stripped the lacquer off the lips ready to polish. Need to order some tyres next

Mini update! Wheel lips polished and faces sorted, not that pleased with the finish by a reputable refurbishing company local ^o) lots of dust for a powder coat but it’s mostly sortable, just wish I’d seen it on collection, no cheaper than a full wheel refurb and it was only the faces I got done. I’m thinking now of spraying the barrels satin black for the contrast myself, originally was going to leave them but they’re letting the wheels down now. Any advice on black over silver?

Some pics of the one wheel mounted front and back! Front will need a bit more spacing but the rears perfect with an old 18mm

@natogreen16v cheers Connor, nice to run something different like you and the mk2!

@r16vka ive got 255/35s to go on so depending on how they sit I might bring it out a little more! Don't wanna space the front out too much cause it looks stupid at driving height then ^o)

Some more pics from building the wheels up! Black barrels really paid off I think. Going so well until my Lidl tap broke when I was chasing out threads

Finding it very hard to get perfect mirror lips but I think I'm just gonna have to give in and just run them, they're wheels for a car I want to drive at the end of the day. The standard titanium bolts polished up sooooooo nicely

Got the car sorted and ran up to Dubshed friday night. Was glad to see my own bed on Sunday night but it was a fairly stress free, chill weekend! Wheels on and I do really think they suit the car I just have a bit of work to do fitment wise and I'll be happy! The front pulls in so much camber when it airs out and I hate massive poke at driving height so I'm kind of limited there but the back could come out to meet the arch. The brakes work very well even if they have a little more travel than standard, I assume this is due to needing to move more volume of fluid? There's a very minimal vibration which I think could be a badly balanced wheel but otherwise it drives the best I've ever had it! Rear end rebuild really paid off, impressed with the polybushes so far, hope to get a lot more miles on it over summer now and hopefully do Rollhard in the mainland if I get accepted! The cars certainly not perfect with stonechips etc (even had someone kindly pick at a stone chip on my bonnet with big greasy fingers on saturday ) but ill keep chipping away until I'm happy with it. My GF had her wrapped A4 up in reserve but unfortunately didn't make it in! The grit being blown against cars in the wind was wild, I really feel for anyone with fresh paint that ended up outside!

That is honestly fantastic. The wheels suit it perfectly- an absolute triumph.

Thanks a lot! I wish they had a slight bit more dish on show but the more polished surface that's covered the better I think :joy:

@A6Avant Thanks man! She was a bit annoyed she was right down the very end but that meant the other cars shielded hers from the blowing grit a bit so silver linings and all that
