Can't Seem to Stay away from 7's (This is the 7th one i've owned!)

I'm having a total Case of Deja Vu with this Project having only converted a Superlight 6 Months ago to Hayabusa Power and Then Selling up!

This Car kind of found me, and all Fell together.. So it seemed like a sign!

It was fully Rebuilt on a New Chassis in 2015 and has only been used as a Hillclimb Car since, the Previous Owner Campaigned the Car for Ten years and felt like he had Fully Developed / gone as far as a Caterham Could go, Prior to my Ownership the car was installed with a 260hp 1680cc Hayabusa (£20k+) Engine, this ended up going into a Single seater, and I purchased the Rest of the Car from the Owner.

The Chassis spec itself is as follows -

Imperial S3 DeDion Caterham Chassis
Painted Riviera Blue
Full SLR Roll Cage
Quick Rack
Nitron Dampers
Widetrack Suspension
Bladed Front Rollbar
AP Brakes Front and Rear
Titan Plate Diff with 3.14 Ratio Diff for Bua
Carbon - Nose, Arches, Tunnel, Dash, Seat, Boot Cover, Sump Guard
Full Mounted up a Hayabusa & Propshaft to Suit.
DTA SX Dash Board
2 Sets of Magnesium Split Rims
& Ofcourse Fully Road Registered

All up Weight with 5L of Fuel on Board 430kg

Whilst Collecting the Car in Wales, it made sense to Collect an Engine En Route -

1300cc Gen1 Busa,
Fully Rebuilt by Extreme Engines
High Compression Pistons, Cams
Nova Dry Sump System
Clutch & Gearbasket Upgrade
Billet Starter Cover Setup
Full Stainless Manifold and Silencer in Caterham Fitment

So Plan is to nail it together, and use it.. If I got torn into it there is about 3 days work in it.

But the reality is I have it home 3 weeks and haven't made a start yet!

Some Pics!

In all her Glory..

Previous Owner was Meticulous and looked after it very well for a Competition Car..

Almost seemed a Shame to bring it home in an open trailer, fortunately it only rained for about 15mins of my 6 hour Journey home!

Got it home, Washed down, On to its stands & Ready for Surgery!

And Of Course the Engine!

Excuse the Power Source, the Garage is also Work in Progress!

Looks to be in great nick, shouldn't take long to sort out. Never works like that though lol

Great job, when's she for sale? :p

All joking aside though, fair play. You just have to make time for yourself otherwise life just passes you by, alarmingly quickly when you have a house full of young kids!

I've been chipping away at this, lots of things underway.. but very little complete!

Pneumatic Paddle Shift items mounted..

IMG_1473.jpeg

Engine in, Radiator paired with Oil Cooler and Fan Mounted, Manifold test fitted, propshaft off to be modified (length and Flange)

IMG_1887.jpeg

IMG_1493.jpeg

I've decided to redo the fuel system and install a standard baffled injection caterham 35L tank with internal pump & Fuel sender

IMG_1882.jpeg

The current system has a 5 & 10Litre options although that would do a sprint, hillclimb or a track day session its really little use for a spin down the road!

IMG_1890.jpeg

Ive also Stripped the Arches and other body panels to push a few dents and wrap the car in Acid Green and update the front end to 620R Spec with the deep vented nose.

The car will turn out something like this..

Planning a good Rip at it this week!!

Pretty sure i said i wasn't doing the wiring this time, but after contacting 5 of the Local Motorsport wiring guys and getting no where, this is how Saturday night looked!

It's a DTA Engine Loom for a Vauxhall C20XE that im planning to Adapt to suit the Hayabusa and interface with the Existing Basic Race chassis Loom.

ECU is currently with DTA being upgraded to add Paddle shift, Launch & Traction Control Functions

The front of the car is now stripped again, all the bracketry is away being Powdercoated.

Fixed a Dent on the side Panel (primed and will be wrapped in a few weeks)

IMG_2332.jpeg

Got the Exhaust system finalised, its now polished and ready to be final fitted.

IMG_2327.jpeg

The Fuel tank is now modified, welded, cleaned out, and installed with a Sytec internal pump.

Still avoiding the Wiring at all costs!!

Really must try a Caterham sometime. Always loved the idea of them, and how they look, just never had the chance to get in one.
