Love this car ,puts my wee 205 to shame 😂
Devil the bit of it!!! Love a 205 GTi - I’d love to get one at some point tbf. If someone gave me a choice of small Pug to pick from it’d be a 205 GTI or s2 Rallye like I use to own! Any pics of this 205 of yours??? I seen one thread from having a snoop - get some up dude!!!

Going through the hard drives again. Thought this was a good one - thought I’d share. Piya looking her fine self as always. This was during the promo shoot we were doing for the site.

Rather than posting these randomly like I'm trying to bump the thread for no reason I just thought i'd throw all into one. Being going through old pics of the car and re-editing them with the new version of Photoshop and its been awesome. The Car and the beautiful Piya is all that is real in the pics. The locations exist for part of the photo but I have added a lot of "Generative Fill"on them and its brought a lot of life back into these photos I think.

@Woodcutter asked me the other day what color the car was and I guess it might be a little confusing but the car is now Bianca White for those of you confused with all the posts of it in Dandelion Yellow. David was waiting on bits and pieces that where specially laser cut for the cage and they only showed up in the last few days so no major updates in that sense.

One thing we did get sorted is a source, an affordable source, for making my axle at the rear wider so we can use regular ET offset wheels for the car. Coincidentally it also allows a more modern rear braking system from a 207 GTI to be fitted albeit not a bigger disc. Anyway hopefully next update will be with cage and all fitted up!

An Actual Update!

So been a few weeks since the mock of the cage with David just getting some bits and pieces laser cut so here is the cage in the car!

RHM - Feb 2024 - 8.JPG

Gusseted and battery relocated to behind the "co-drivers"seat

David's own little touch with the spare wheel holder in the back seat - he told me "Only problem is now you have to buy 5 wheels instead of 4!"

So the roof that I bought that was in "good shape" turned out to be a dog's turd unfortunately. It was crazy in the photos we had acknowledged one area that was problematic. Dad went and got it per my instructions and never questioned it. Then David collected it and didn't get a look until he washed it the other day.... There would have been at least 4-5 areas that on their own would have most likely meant the scrap heap so I am on the look out again. Surprised tbh by the person I bought it off because they knew exactly my intentions with it and to allow me to buy it and tell me its grand and for it to be in sh!te is a let down but these things happen... just unfortunate (especially when I threw him another 20 quid towards because I thought I was doing him out of the panel... more fool me!

Anyway... next stop, the underside of the car!

Yes boy! That's going to be one tasty machine. Really looking forward to seeing what all's in store for it. Loved the yellow but white even nicer and much more motorsport theme appropriate

That's a great looking cage Patrick!
Yeah I’m so delighted with it but I knew David would do a stellar job. Little things I didn’t ask for like the battery relocate and the spare wheel holder are so cool - this is the main reason I asked David to help me in this project - he totally gets the assignment. The car is essentially going to be a rally car.

That last line Rob - exactly my thinking. I do miss the Yellow and there is a small part of me that regrets getting rid of it but the Motorsport look was always the goal from the very start.

I think if I were to do a livery it would have to be the one above. The Works Clarion livery that @Rob posted is a little too cliche for my liking although it’s iconic. The other issue I have is; if doing a livery it needs to be perfect and correct for the body of the car. The works livery posted above by Rob is on the Evo2 and 3 version of the 306 Maxi. My car is the basic Evo 1 so I’d have to do the livery below.
IMG_3468.jpeg

More nerd stuff - to even do that properly I’d have to run the smaller 5 spoke Speedline and I wouldn’t have the Evo1 roof spoiler that is different to the updated Evo2 and Evo3. The early spoiler is impossible to get afaik

Additionally, the Evo2 and Evo3 front bumper is different too sooooooooo….. can you tell I have thought about this??? 😝😂

Aye, I think you deserve all the anoraks lol. TBH, I think the first time I saw the 306 Maxi was on the BBC WRC coverage of San Remo? with Mark James commentating. There was the usual mcrae makkinen championship status and then a head on clip of Frankie D coming out of a left kink in the 306 with the rear end bouncing out of a cut and Frankie keeping it stuck to the headlight before banging down the sequential to go into a hairpin right. Frig me, Made the wrc cars look and sound boring.
This needs ITB's, of course...:p

I thought it was either of those two rallies, tried to find it again recently and couldn't. The period from the first GrA Mk1 Clio through to the Maxi Clio's, then the Pugs, Megane, xsara etc was class. The 97 brc was great too with the Sunny, Escorts, Golfs. The Manx that year was mental with the amount of accidents.

It’s funny every one raves about GroupB and WRC - and they are amazing eras but I always found Formula2 and S2000 probably my favs because of the N.A. engines.

My favorite Alister McRae quote was on the Ulster from that same year IIRC, was when Tony Mason asks him about how much time they lost? Ali turns and says “Have you got a calendar??” 😂😝🤣

I crack up even thinking about it!

Things are escalating lol. Next stop we are mounted to a spit and then from the man himself:
Next step is make brackets for the spit & get the car mounted & upside down.
Then start stripping all the parts for powder coat & zinc.
Exciting times! David also said he was happy with how solid everything was. Little ideas cropping up and it’s going to make this one special 306. Scary to see it like the above but it’s all en route to awesomeness I think!
