Devil the bit of it!!! Love a 205 GTi - I’d love to get one at some point tbf. If someone gave me a choice of small Pug to pick from it’d be a 205 GTI or s2 Rallye like I use to own! Any pics of this 205 of yours??? I seen one thread from having a snoop - get some up dude!!!Love this car ,puts my wee 205 to shame
An Actual Update!
So been a few weeks since the mock of the cage with David just getting some bits and pieces laser cut so here is the cage in the car!

Gusseted and battery relocated to behind the "co-drivers"seat

David's own little touch with the spare wheel holder in the back seat - he told me "Only problem is now you have to buy 5 wheels instead of 4!"

So the roof that I bought that was in "good shape" turned out to be a dog's turd unfortunately. It was crazy in the photos we had acknowledged one area that was problematic. Dad went and got it per my instructions and never questioned it. Then David collected it and didn't get a look until he washed it the other day.... There would have been at least 4-5 areas that on their own would have most likely meant the scrap heap so I am on the look out again. Surprised tbh by the person I bought it off because they knew exactly my intentions with it and to allow me to buy it and tell me its grand and for it to be in sh!te is a let down but these things happen... just unfortunate (especially when I threw him another 20 quid towards because I thought I was doing him out of the panel... more fool me!
Anyway... next stop, the underside of the car!
Yeah I’m so delighted with it but I knew David would do a stellar job. Little things I didn’t ask for like the battery relocate and the spare wheel holder are so cool - this is the main reason I asked David to help me in this project - he totally gets the assignment. The car is essentially going to be a rally car. That's a great looking cage Patrick!
That last line Rob - exactly my thinking. I do miss the Yellow and there is a small part of me that regrets getting rid of it but the Motorsport look was always the goal from the very start.Yes boy! That's going to be one tasty machine. Really looking forward to seeing what all's in store for it. Loved the yellow but white even nicer and much more motorsport theme appropriate
I know the EXACT clip you are talking about… pure magic!! I believe it was Catalunya 97 **anoraks accepted**Aye, I think you deserve all the anoraks lol. TBH, I think the first time I saw the 306 Maxi was on the BBC WRC coverage of San Remo? with Mark James commentating. There was the usual mcrae makkinen championship status and then a head on clip of Frankie D coming out of a left kink in the 306 with the rear end bouncing out of a cut and Frankie keeping it stuck to the headlight before banging down the sequential to go into a hairpin right. Frig me, Made the wrc cars look and sound boring.
This needs ITB's, of course...
I thought it was either of those two rallies, tried to find it again recently and couldn't. The period from the first GrA Mk1 Clio through to the Maxi Clio's, then the Pugs, Megane, xsara etc was class. The 97 brc was great too with the Sunny, Escorts, Golfs. The Manx that year was mental with the amount of accidents.
Exciting times! David also said he was happy with how solid everything was. Little ideas cropping up and it’s going to make this one special 306. Scary to see it like the above but it’s all en route to awesomeness I think!Next step is make brackets for the spit & get the car mounted & upside down.
Then start stripping all the parts for powder coat & zinc.
