If you drove my golf you'd soon know they don't drive themselves!

Have to say I like some fords, but prefer vw's.

I'm a big fan of the classic fords, but anything from the mk3 escort onwards has been scrap imo. Seems like they've started to get their act together again though with the focus.

VWs are hard to beat for their diesels alone, they have impressive reliability and build quality. Love the whole VW modding scene too.

Rover's!
Big fan of the mk3/4 Ford Escorts and the mk1/2 Golf GTI/RS brand's, but now days they have changed dramaticially, but so have consuer demands.

Fair to say imo that Golfs are generally a bit more expensive in general, and Ford's are easyier on the wallet.

Both are great brand's, but Ford is more mass market imo, and VW is definatly aiming for a higher price range in my opinion now days, not quite BMW, but almost as good ect.

Which would proabley explain why Seat and Skoda now occupy the price brackets and contend with Ford.

Some of you are saying not every model from ford or vw are to everyones liking, but correct me if im wrong has the ford focus not been the best selling car in its class the last number of years. So alot of ppls must like it compared to golf. For looks, performance, value for money or whatever other reason.
I've drove a mk3 golf gti and thought it was sweet to drive, and in buying my latest car a mk4 golf gti was one of the cars i had in mind. I went for a zetec focus instead as i feel it looks better, and the dash in a vw looks as if its been the same for years, and thats the part of the car im going to see alot of. So i want to like it as well as the outside. Also would have bought a seat leon over a golf as its to much money just for a name.

vw of course. ford is the typical "working class car" and not a lot have terribly high build quality and a tendancy to rust quickly. volkswagens are a bit more upmarket and better build quality.

VW never built any real aggressive cars like fords
rs 200
rs cosworth seirra
rs 500
rs cosworth escort
rs focus
s1 rs turbo
s2 rs turbo
rs turbo fiesta

all the vw's are over rated and expensive and they drive themselves u will never have as much fun in any vw as u would with any of the cars above
they built the first hot hatch which is still a legend today, and a mk2 16v golf was twice the car and a far better drive then any rs turbo fiesta or escort, funnily enuff yiou can still buy them in relatively good condition more than can be said for the rs fiestas and escorts...no contest
they also stuck a v6 engine in a golf in the early 90s...that was fairly aggressive at the time, and a vr6 would give a good account of itself agaisnt a standard cossie saphire any day of the week.

Get in a TDCI Focus and take it a few mile come back and
get in TDI Golf ...lol Theres just no contest..

Ohh and GT TDI Golf with a tunning box will **** over an RS Focus :grinning:

Only thing thats lets VW down is there new petrols...

another example..
R32 Golf Vs RS Focus ? ...lol Would it even be a race?
