oh and if that turbo was running right, it wasnt over 200 bhp, to get beaten by a vr6.

And i would also like to say that I would classify mine as near mint condition....Notice in the picture the golf in the background,where it should be....

Out of the 3 in the picture, what car in general ford or VW looks better??? No contest....

the trueest thing n e one cud say we could go on and on about wots better and still get no where and yes rsnutter ur car is sweet i do like along wif the grey one (skimans) both nice rs. in real life terms power is not every thing wow fords have made powerful petrols whey vw on the othere hand have made powerfull diesels.

USA Ford make big cars like mustangs in this case im pretty damn sure he was referin 2 the british version of ford which can be summed up as ok.

and the classics fords which u have all mentioned...not always about reliability...cost...looks etc...jus general driver appeal... mk1 golf gti aint gonna contest a cossie etc but it still demands respect!!

I've been in too many "Nova's are ***** arguments, this is really just another example of people forcing opinions on others!

I love certain fords, i love certain VW's.. I dont see the point in argueing which is best, unless you've owned both for a long period of time, know there faults etc..

Most people here are baseing there opinions on "what they've heard" more than personal experience!

personally i like the look of most of the perfomance vauxhalls, nova, astras, caviller (spelling!) etc. they are nice the way them come. what i dont like is whaen people go and stick on some gay bodykit. they should keep it simple lower it, nice rims and tune the engine

When i was at Trax in 2002 and 2003 (silverstone) I spent as much time looking round the Vauxhall clubs, as i did the Ford and VW.. Some stunning examples!

There were a few stunning RS Turbos, absolutely immaculate! Thats the way they should be!

i know a lad who did one very short burnout in his 1999 tdi golf, then needed a new clutch...... apparently they cant take any abuse. on the other hand ive seen a gt tdi golf with 205k, was showing 5k cuz the digital clock changes at 200k, so he said anyway......

My bro's old Audi A3 Stripped the gearbox to bits when he fitted 18's! Heard this happening alot!

My Nova's 12 years old and still on its orignal clutch...

And people say Nova's are ****!

haha so true micky! my RS was also built in germany! the cossies were built by karmen (spelling!). however turbo NOT built in germany were built in spain and apparantly rust badly

Each to their own as regards to this topic... both have their merits and downers. i personally used to own a few fords but got pissed off with constant need for a mig welder and the need for a good relationship with the autoparts stores. i then found VW and have been driving them ever since, just love the driving experience of them and the club scene here in NI and on the mainland.
