Roy Haslett Rally prep - 02897 510003 if your looking a reputable person, but as Bibby says its not really a specialist subject, all fairly straight forward. How did you feck your box??

not fecked, just the syncrohubs in 2nd and 4th need replaced, drives fine but when your slowing to a stop, it gently pops out of gear to N.

it's not that hard in all honesty skiman, just need to have good gearbox knowledge, which i served many courses and done the most of saab's gearboxes when i worked for them, and alot of toyota's when i worked there, and if any gearbox is akward, a toyota is as everything is pressed on with about 30t of pressure, saabs and vaux, the gears slip off if you remove a few clips

He's quite right, its not like any one person will be able to do it any better than another. As long as all neccessary components are replaced and put on in correct place and order then it will be 100%.

Im getting a gearbox rebuilt / reconditioned in England for the CRX, new synchros and steel caged bearing, unfortunately no LSD though :worried: but should be all good and shipped to me in a couple of weeks

its very easy to get the bearing preload shimming wrong

But not if you're an experienced gearbox builder and know what to do.
A lot of people think they can just unbolt the box, stick in a few bearings and hey presto.

less of it skiman! keep it friendly

Less of what my dear friend? I simply said "IN JEST" that i wouldnt let bibby touch it, a member took it to heart and dished out, if they are big enough to say something they are big enough to take back a response IMO. It was a tongue in cheek comment, bibby knows i was taking the pish which is why his reply was not an angry one... Some people need to lighten up and not take life so seriously ffs.

In my rallye box, 2nd is gone, i can put it in when slowing bown, but when i touch the throttle it pops out, and 3rd crunches when u go in...

What needs replaced and whats an estimated price for a rebuild??

Got a 1.5d gearbox in atm and all the Get up and go, has got up and went :worried:

sounds like your syncro's are gone, hence why not holding in gear, hard to say what all is needed before stripping down as you dont know what the metal filings have done to the rest of the box, in this case probably best finding another rallye in a breakers and getting the box out of it, probably just as expensive

i think you might of got your figures wrong, due to the fact there are 2 of us, and 5574 members, that would equate to us actually being of a lesser number than you thought, actually 0.0358809 % of the forum to be precise
