Its a pity they wouldnt even provide me with a quote. Doesnt look like they are doing too well with rms lol

Steve,

due to your history the rate seemed high, thus we politely declined rather than embarrasing ourselves by offering it.

However, with your post in mind i've sent you what we managed to do for you.

Once the points/claim are over 3 years old it will be a very different story (y)

Kind regards

Tony

Just got a quote back from them, was the lowest Ive had so far with the mods declared. Certainly will be contacting them at the end of Feb when my insurance is up.

Handy to have you Tony as a forum member too to answer quick questions (y)

Speaking of which, what are the conditions of third party cover for driving other cars? Is that only covered on FC policies?

Excellent, glad we can help at least one of you on here..

It's never easy being an Insurance bod on any performance/modified vehicle forum, but one thing to remember is that we are enthusiasts first Insurance professionals second.

Greenlight came about in 1996 due to our being into our cars & members of owners clubs that also worked in Insurance.

The driving other cars (TPO cover extension) is not cover specific, it is available to drivers aged 25+ who are covered under open (not limited) mileage policies. This extension is not available to individuals working within the motor trade.

Many thanks for the message & hope this helps.

Kind regards

Tony

Do you cover Turbo conversions, and if the policy holder is 21 do you cover a 20 year ol as named driver?

Hi Manda,

Sorry about not responding until now (if truth be known, i'd missed your post within the barrage of posts )

Unfortunately, all drivers have to be over 21 for us.. but once youre both over 21 we'll be competitive & definitely able to help.

Thanks for your interest in the meantime.

Kind regards

Tony

 the quote seemed high to us, which was why we initially declined to offer it to you.

We are finding our way at the moment rating wise and are learning as we go so glad we could help (in the end).

Kind regards

Tony who are your underwriters.. are they a lloyds based syndicate or independant...

Just interested as my wife works in the motor insurance trade and i get my insurance through work which specialises in my occupation specifically and gives generous discounts in this field.

Do you only deal in modified cars or do you deal in standard vehicles also and do you do any introductory schemes etc for spouses etc etc..

Cheers

Hi Martin,

We have several underwriters available to cover the performance & modified vehicles, depending upon your specific geographic location (ie. mainland, channel islands, IOM or NI). They comprise of ABI independent Insurers (such as Zurich, AXA & Highway) and Lloyds syndicates (such as Chaucer, Equity & KGM).

Whilst these are not all household names due to their purely trading via brokers rather than banging the publicity drum upon TV, they are all UK based with UK based claims handlers and all are extremely well reserved (ie. decent solvency margins/ratings).

They are all FSA approved and vetted Insurers, with the Lloyds syndicates also having met Lloyds regulatory requirements.

Working in the industry, your wife will probably be familar with these companies - I do know a few brokers out there, with this in mind does your wife work for an Insurer or broker in the province?

We are purely covering specialist vehicles in to province, which is the only market that Greenlight transact business within. Our schemes are tailored for purely these vehicles and we are not looking to transact cover for non-performance or non-modified standard everyday a-to-b run around vehicles.

Many thanks for taking time out to post..

Kind regards

Tony

Tonys a good lad - Went out of his way to sort me out on passionford. Greenlight was over £300 cheaper than another specialist insurer (y)

Hi Marc,

Discount wise, our forum concessions are varied & based upon the performance of the forum.

They range from 5%-12.5%, with the most common being 7.5% which is our starting point.

There is also specific rating & claims tracking for each forum, which effectively means members can influence their rates and a low claims cost will equate to competitive premiums with further reductions at renewal.

Our criteria is fairly tight (as experienced by some of you) to protect the scheme, but we will look to relax this as the scheme becomes established.

Kind regards

Tony

Many thanks for the comment..

I've been on Passion ford for between 3 & 4 years now, maintaining a presence & running a scheme on there.

We arent going to be all things to all men, but for anyone looking for an honest online reference or example as to how Greenlight conduct themselves, Passionford would be a good place to check.

As would, the Honda CTR forum, MK4G forum, RS246, Seatcupranet, Cliosport, FCCUK, Club Gti, Scoobynet.. which are some of the larger forums that we deal with.

not due to july but will be certainly firing off for a quote.

great to see you on the forum Tony.

PS - is there any facility to cover a track only car for very low miles on the road? ie driving to and from track and small runs for testing etc.

Thanks Pablo..

I know the "men in grey" arent always welcome amongst modified/performance vehicle owners..

But we are all into our cars outside of work & purely deal with Insurance for these types of vehicles.

Look forward to hearing from you & hope we can help!

Kind regards

Tony

Excluding M3's, Evo's, 200's and Imports will cut out a fair chunky of RMS but it's a good start in the right direction and I'd say given time it could prove quite popular! I'll mention it to a friend of mine who needs insurance on his modified Fiat Coupe 20vt :grinning:
