Ballynahinch Lanes Rally this weekend, always a good event. I won't be taking part as I need to save the Nova for the inter-association Nav rally in Scotland the weekend after but I might head down for a bit of a watch.

The car absolutely needs to have tax and mot, there is no discussion on that point. The targa/lanes rallies run as clubman events so you do not need an MSA competition licence, you will just need to join the club who are running the rally.

The blue book states, "18.1.4. All major internal trim as fitted to the body type by its original manufacturer when offering it for sale must be retained. This trim will include headlinings, inside door panels, carpets and rear seats."
http://www.msauk.org/uploadedfiles/...320_Specific_Regulations_for_Rallying_(R).pdf

To a certain extent how the club interpret this will be up to the club, sometimes you will get a run without rear seats for example, sometimes you wont.

i have no rear seats. car came without them! and i dare say it would be hard enough to source them!

ill maybe just spectate at this one! am i right in thinking its a 65 entry fee, 27 insurance, 10 to join the club then a fee for navigator aswell?

PM'ed you there. No additional fee for the navigator. £67 for the entry, plus insurance, plus club membership.

Has anyone got old notes/diagrams for a Targa rally? I hope to do PMC later in the month & my cousin was gonna navigate, but now cant.

If I could get my hands on sample diagrams, the wife would do it, but she'd need a few lessons first!! lol

@Super I will check tonight and see if i have anything. TBH though it is really easy and could be picked up in 5mins on the morning of the event. Im doing it myself and happy to talk yous through it. All road directions are give in the form of tulips and distances so a working trip does help. Test diagrams for the lanes are a picture like an autotest diagram if you are familiar with those?

Thats the thing, I would be happy enough with the navigation diagrams, but its whether she could interpret them safely & quickly for me!

Another point that confuses me though, is the blanket cover insurance. Do I need that if the car is already insured fully comp??

@Super I sometimes write a few notes on the diagrams before starting the event just to help. Safety generally comes down to the driver as there isn't enough info given for a navvie to call any accurate distances or severity of corner! Going the correct way round cones etc is often more important to avoid time penalties.

You will need to take event insurance as your fully comp policy won't cover you in a Motorsport event unless it's a specialist policy.

Afraid I don't have any instructions from past events but it's easy enough to pick up on the day

Ach there is nothing to it really! No maps to worry about. Tell her you will be driving slow ;)

As long as you get to the end. I will be in a black saxo. Pop over and say hello and just ask if you want any help on the instructions.
