Saw this in the metal last week and mentioned it on the pod. Colour is stunning and the light interior compliments it perfectly. An absolute cracker! HTD

You drove past me at the Odyessy today. Great road presence and you had smile on your face which said it all!

Gratuitous Tescos shot 😄. Can’t wait to get the springs on now and dropped a little

Should have come from the factory with the Eibachs IMO, the front arch gap is significantly improved! What size spacers are you running?

I’ll be honest, I’m not even sure as the spacers were on when I got it and I haven’t taken the wheels off to check yet. Looking at similar ones I’m guessing 12mm front and 15mm rear

So 5 weeks or so afer buying it, I finally got some new rubber on the wheels ........... the front tyres were still the original BMW supplied ones and the rears were fitted a couple of years ago, both were quite worn down but the fronts in particularly were looking very weathered/perished - and also a nasty looking nail hole left which was patched inside. I didn't have a lot of faith in them (despite passing MOT) so haven't been pushing the car that hard since I got it until I got new tyres on - any brusk acceleration in 2nd/3rd was just bringing on the TCS light constantly even in the dry.

Until recently, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S seemed to be the recommended tyre that most M4 owners went with for road use but I'd seen an increasing numbers of posts in the owners' groups with really positive comments about the newish Continental SportContact 7s - and thought I'd give them a try, so ordered up some 265/30/20 front and 285/30/20 rear a few weeks ago. Have only done 50 miles since they were fitted but so far, I really like them - slightly less road noise, not quite as crashy feeling as the Michelins and great grip under acceleration. Remains to be seen how well they wear but reviews I've read seem to place them on a par with the Michelins.

Flip that nail repair was borderline!!

Yup, I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned (even in passing) at MOT. Been wanting new tyres since I got the car as just had no faith in the worn ones on it.

Haven’t done an update in a while as have just been enjoying the car and driving it lots. Hit the 30k miles mark recently just as I passed 6 months or so of ownership and it has been faultless, hasn’t used a drop of oil and behaved perfectly with daily use.

Averaging 22mpg or so, which is prob my own fault - not that I drive it hard or anything - but I do tend to keep it in sport mode most of the time just to get a bit more rasp out of the comp exhaust even during normal driving. I also prefer the weightier steering in sport, when I put it into comfort on bumpier roads the lighter steering & suspension makes the front end feel more darty and slightly less sure of itself. Got to a few shows over summer with it but would like to have went to a few more, however life always gets in the way! Hoping to get a few good weekend drives in it up round north coast or similar before winter hits properly though.

Due a service soon so as much as it pains me to pay their rates, I’ll prob book it into BMW - would prob go with a bmw specialist if I thought I was keeping it forever, but I’ll likely move it on at some point so want to keep the service history all BMW as it has been to date.

Just passed the 34k marker recently and was time for MOT again, so put it through today - another year’s ticket with no advisories/defects 👍

I was waiting outside the test centre as you do and noticed the MOT tester revving it out 7 or 8 times, incredibly nice of them to throughly check my exhaust for me too - they really go above and beyond 🤦

Anyway - celebrated with a gratuitous post-MOT shot

Hit the 35k mile mark recently so celebrated with a full service and a long overdue detail today. Really brought the shine back into the paintwork, it wasn’t bad but you do tend not to notice the slight dullness inflicted by daily use and frequent washes as it creeps up on you, even using decent cleaning materials.

I’ve been really enjoying driving the M4 since I got it. And despite having some worries about certain known weak points on them, the car has been absolutely faultless. Unfortunately the need for more doors and its stiffness on the increasingly bumpier and potholed roads on my daily commute are starting to take their toll - so I think I’ll probably shift the car on soon. Few small jobs to sort first but I’m in no rush.

No idea what to go for next yet, anyone who’s been listening to the rms podcast will know that I have a slight itch for a fast 4dr hatch - maybe a Megane Trophy or a tidy FK8 - but equally could be swayed by an RS4 or an RS3 saloon. Though maybe they’ll feel just as unforgiving on the roads I’m on. Good excuse to test drive a few things 🙂

Such a lovely M4. I was looking at them after selling the Lotus but sense prevailed and I lowered the budget so they dropped off the radar. That will sell no bother whenever you decide to part with it.

RS3 loon would be lovely, I’m in love with the 5 cylinder

Every now and then I have thoughts of getting a new car and selling the M4, my only issue is there's very little at similar price point that ticks all boxes. The weak points you hint at are over exagerated so wouldn't let that put you off. The only other car I'd consider changing it for is G80 M3, though i'd propbably still keep mine and turn it into full on track spec.

They definitely are over exaggerated, you only hear the bad reports online unfortunately! However I need more doors and something not so tightly sprung, I find myself squirming a lot on the roads I have to commute on every time I hit a bad bump and driving much slower as a result, it's taking the enjoyment out of it for me.

G80s are great, I've done (almost) a full U-turn on the grill too and starting to really like them. The C63s are great too, after a run in Cooper's estate one I was very impressed with it

I would say the RS4 would be just as stiff as the M4 but you're welcome to to a run in mine to see for yourself.
