I agree with Pete about the bickering, no need for it, at the end of the day the proof is in the level of fonosh no matter what its called

Ok so no I'm not a $hit valeter who has worked in a dealership and has 20000000 cars under their belt... but my work has always been 100% - never had one customer return their car and complain!!!!!!!

You haven't been buffing long anyway ;)

You only got your pc a few years ago and don't forget you had to get your golf buffed for you, cus you couldn't use a rotary

Quote lenerd
"Anyway, by the time I had got the car home I realised that it was scratched all over from the dealer washing it with a dirty sponge - or something of that nature

I really wasn't going to complain as its not in my nature so I simply booked the car in for a full paintwork correction with a local valet firm on the monday morning"

So what did you do before? wash and hoovers? quick coat of super resin

met pete and big_pete tonight on my way home from work having a conversation about this thread...and it sucks ass

who actually gives a sheet whether or not its valeting/detailing - is it really that important? the importance is in the level of finish and customer satisfaction

perhaps certain members like to think they are a cut above everyone else, therefore branding themselves as a "detailer" or a "valeter" (depending on what side of the arguement they come from)

grow up a bit, act your age and continue cleaning you car how you want and callign yourself whatever you want - and stop starting arguements in threads all the time for no reason!

It's all quite amusing really. It would remind you of Hondas and Fords.

To be fair Amos. Have you ever used G3? It doesnt sound like it.

Imo, it is a good product. And you can achieve excellent results with it. But its too messy for me to be bothered with.

I'm with BA, I wouldn't pay some towel monkey £25 an hour to buff a car. £10-15/hr tops for a quality job. Baz C did the paint on my M3 for a quarter of the price some of you boys are throwing about, and it was a great job. Imo the only part of the job that really needs done by a pro is the paint work, the rest can be done by anyone...

I don't see how some kind of rms cartel to keep the prices up serves any purpose other than detracting away business. Bar the super rich who don't have the time to spend doing it themselves, I doubt more than 1/20 people would actually want the level of detail which necessitates a £200 price tag.

Why thank you. But the last time I got a car cleaned in America, it was at a Car Valet (Val-ley) not by a detailer. (y)

the most i would ever charge would be 200 and thats for around 15-20hrs work plus materials, rent, rates, electric etc. My target market isnt primarily rms. 200 isnt alot of money compared to the value of your car. Its just protecting your invvestment.

Is that your full time job with you paying tax though Pete? Bit different to someone doing it on a Saturday cash in hand.

Sure a valet at most valeting companies around is from about 100 for full valet and a buff is over 90 easy. I agree with the "homer" thing, not as many expenses = cheaper.

exactly but when its your bread and butter i dont think its asking too much. To be honest straight forward valets make me more money. Detailing them is a passion
