After owning the 2003 V40 and the 2005 S60 I was convinced that old Volvos make excellent cheap daily barges. I hadn’t even planned on changing the S60 but this appeared for sale with very limited info and it peaked my interest. I had never seen an S80 SE Sport and thought this stood out from any other S80 I had seen with the big wheels.
It was for sale at the same place I bought my S60 from and they were great to deal with so I paid a visit on Monday morning and left a deposit and picked it up on Tuesday.
It’s a 2008 S80 D5 185bhp Auto with 166k miles and a very nice spec list which includes:
Heated and ventilated leather seats
Factory Nav with remote
Car phone (old school in the centre console)
4C adaptive dampers
Volvo tow bar
Volvo roof bars
Bi-Xenon adaptive headlights
Premium sound system
Parking sensors
Aftermarket bluetooth
Electric front seats
Electric sunroof
Auto dim mirror with compass
It was only MOTd last week and good tyres and decent history so for really not very much money it’s now mine. Loving how lazy automatic is to drive and it’s not too bad on fuel with an average of around 40mpg so far.
So far I’ve replaced both xenon bulbs as one had gone pink and replaced the side marker bulbs as they were both blown. Also I know they aren’t to everyone’s taste but I got a new set of plates made up to freshen it up a bit. I might get a wheel refurb after winter but for now I’m just enjoying wafting along in it.
Excuse the poor pics, it needs a good wash and some proper photos taken in daylight.
