Had to replace the rears on the Cupra there as they were down to the wire on the very inside! I'm assuming camber or alignment is off.

Anyway I'll be replacing the fronts soon too just wondering what other drivers out there recommend, those with the likes of tuned vags, ford st's, rs's, vxr's etc, basically anything over 300 bhp/torque with fwd. I want to buy the right tyre something with proper grip!
Who's running what??

Used to drive me nuts, never did find a tyre that would take the power in 1st and 2nd in the wet and decided that was enough of FWD for good lol. Don't the STs have a LSD @collyirwin11 ? That's bound to make a big difference to grip levels. Im pretty sure I had those goodyears on a 1.8 Corsa and they would spin all over the place in 1st.

Cannot recommend Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetric 2's highly enough. They have been a fantastic tyre for me, in the wet and the dry, have no issues putting 300bhp down in most conditions. IMO the grip level is superb.

I agree ^^

White mountain tyres was the cheapest for me when I put them fronts on the cupra.. But as I said.. It eats tyres :worried:

No LSD in them, but they can torque steer like an absolute pig. When I bought it, it came with a pzero on one side and a goodyear on the other and it was a handful when coming on full boost, but once I put the goodyears on, it has been grand.

Not used them on a monstrous hot hatch but I've been very impressed with Bridgedtone RE002, great grip wet or dry, wear is excellent. They've been getting great reviews as well.
Mighty car mods have been using them on Super gramps (3.6 flat 6 turbo legacy wagon) and recently upgraded to the RE003.

I'm thinking I might need a diff, it must be down to how it's mapped. Fun sometimes but also can be frustrating after a while, there's not even any point in the wet! I've always had 4WD in something with a bit of power so this is like driving a grown up tuned Escort RS Turbo:p

You need to quit the fwd sc3n3 and go back to AWD. I don't think I'll buy fwd again.

Couldn't agree more. Brilliant grip in the wet too!

pilot supersports have been noticeably better than the goodyear as2's on my focus, definitely worth the extra few quid.saying that the rs can still give either a good workout

Yeah it's no prob replacing them say once a year as I'm only doing 5-6k miles and I barely drive it during the week as i have the zoe for commuting. How did you find the F1's @Bronk when they went on new, did they get the power down in the dry, I don't think it would matter what it had in the wet lol, wouldn't be driving like an eejit in the wet anyway.

MP sport 3's are a good bit cheaper but I'm assuming they won't compare to the super sports

Nope, they are not the successor to the PS2. They're not as performance oriented as the PSS.
I think I paid £500 fitted and balanced for 4 in 205/45/17 They were £115 each online

Is there spacers on the front of the car? Spacers plus wider rims and tyres can change the scrub radius dramatically on a FWD car and cause traction issues amongst other things.

Good tyres are never gonna hurt though..

I don't think there are spacers but near sure they are 9" all round so there's a small bit of stretch with the 225/40/18.

I got caught out by this when I wanted to clear some big brakes on one of the alfa's. Spacers turned it into a torque steering monster so got different wheels that cleared the brakes with original offset plus 5mm, problem solved. Same tyres on both sets of wheels.

I've over 300bhp and have yokohama parada spec 2s on mine. I've minimum wheel spin in the dry although I've a LSD fitted so its probably making some difference but they are a brilliant tyre!
