This is the replacement for the Hiace (and the Golf R). I will spare you the thought process behind purchasing such a machine mainly because I'm still processing it myself.

So what the frig is it?

It's a 280bhp 3.5 V6 petrol, 7 seat mini van made by Toyota. The engine and gearbox is used in loads of Toyota and Lexus and, hilariously, the Lotus Evora.

Few pics below. I'll raise your 'wafter' with this. The spec is absolutely hilarious for a 2008 car :joy:

Tailgate and both rear sliding doors are electric

Onboard air filtration and electric ionising system

IMG_8852.jpeg

The car uses the Sharp Plasmacluster system to determine if the interior needs antibacterial cleaning (Clean mode) or dust reduction through electric ionising (Ion mode)

Flip down screen in the rear with remote. Youtube available...

Second row is two electrically adjustable captains chairs with leg and foot rests. They also move side to side.

In relax mode

It can, of course, do van things. The 3rd row folds up and out of the way and the 2nd row slides down

IMG_8848.jpeg

The 3rd row is fairly decent sized too

IMG_8850.jpeg

Options vary. As well as parking sensors and reverse cam it also has 'Pole Auto'.

IMG_8853.jpeg

Which is this wee boy that raises out of the bumper with a blue LED light on the top. Hilarious!

IMG_8856.jpeg

Front passenger is well catered for with their own electrically adjustable seat inc leg rest.

IMG_8859.jpeg

Service book was missing with this one, but plenty of evidence of a cared for life in Japan.

IMG_8870.jpeg

Not to mention the condition underneath!

IMG_8815.jpeg

Have had a dig around and the build quality is great too. Barring the plastic wood which I might do something with in time,.

I can’t think of a better machine for ferrying kids about and doing road trips. Unbelievable condition underneath, when the JDM stuff is good, it’s really good. Toyota reliability too 👌

Wow, bustastic, spec is mega high, we had an 04 Alhambra when the kids were kids, that had heated seats and dual zone aircon and thought it was a luxurious thing lol.
The passenger seats with the footrests are amazing, class family wagon.

Is it actually called business class??? 😂 Told anyone that asked my p38 had cigar leather just cause it kinda looked like it and i thought it sounded cool lol

Tried to get my sister to buy one a couple of years ago, lpg conversion would be perfect on that if somewhere to hide a tank

Ha what does the wife make of that 😂

I love how weird it is 😂

I remember seeing them all over Yokohama and Osaka and thinking how cool they were but had no idea what they actually were!

The mrs was wondering why I didn’t just get a VW Caravelle, but after a look in the flesh was comverted. Biggest problem was not having any to see in the flesh here in NI.

Big thanks to @Matthew2761 for letting me have a drive at his!!

Didn't think I wanted one until now 🤣

Very left of field, but cool all the same.

Health to bus about!

That's freaking amazing, I love these weird jap luxury mpv type things. When you think about it, they make so much more sense than a Range Rover or big saloon. Unrivaled interior space.

I have noticed a place on the Bangor carriageway that seems to specialise in these sorta bonkers things.

Are we looking at sub 20mpg?

Not a problem 👌 it looks fantastic 😁

Get yourself on AliExpress, they have a mountain of things for these available (it's a whole new level of bankruptcy 😂) including a gloss black kit to hide the fake wood if you're not a fan of it.

28mpg on the run up from Wales driving normally with A/C and stuff on. It’s actually not a millions miles off the Hiace on fuel!

Loving this.

'Plasmacluster'. Like some weapon doc ock would use in a spiderman movie.
