Looks great, love black when it’s all clean.

xenons really freshen up the front end on these. Has it spacers on? Front looks to sit nice in the arch
I need to check I thought that myself I’ll have the wheels of in the next week or 2 when it’s in getting a proper clean. Glad it’s got the spec this time round.
I think they still look so modern in black!!!! Lovely nice to tinker with to
Thanks I’ve never owned a black car as there a nightmare to keep buy they do look so fresh when clean. I’ve ordered a lot of tiny bits to just freshen it up newer style interior light switch etc bits like that really make a car for me.

Change the interior lights for whiter led versions, a kit with all you needs costs very little on eBay, made a world of difference I thought when I changed my own, a lot more modern looking for little £ 👍🏻 maybe £15 or something I think I paid at the time.

Black is definitely hard to keep "mint", but looks great when clean! HTD

I’ve been guilty of getting stuck into a car and maybe worrying about how it looks etc first. This time round all the common issues will be addressed on the Gti.
All genuine oe parts for this side of it.
Oil pickup pipe
Cam follower
Dv
Pcv valve
Dipstick
And a fresh new set of genuine gti mats. ABS light came on today iam guessing rear bearings as it’s a common fault and everything else it’s been doing ties up so I’ll order some skf rear bearings tomorrow and just do them both while iam at it. I’ll get a oil air and cabin filter sorted tomorrow along with some motul engine oil

Spent an hour quick coat of polish to see what exactly the paintwork needs and I reckon a buff will leave it pretty much as close to perfect as you can expect for a 12 year old car. Forgot to mention it has a cat back that needed some attention so spent 5 minutes and left it like this will give it a proper go when it’s in the air.

My one packed in on my MK5 GTI the night it was selling. Tried a euros one, was crap. So just went genuine, worked first time. Always worried about the door skin not lining up properly afterwards lol

Yea I just went oe wasn’t cheap but it’s done once. Was my biggest worry but then I thought with the main frame not being moved knew it would be ok.

Didn’t realise how late it was. Few bits changed and freshened up. Full set of led bulbs put in and the newer style golf light switch fitted. Hoping to have it all done and driving again within a day or two few more bits to finish then a coat of wax should see it as a really tidy daily/family car.

@dh1079 they do. Just sidelights to put in and need a number plate bulb holder as this one is broke explains the bulb not working. Ordered a set of new front grills last night the red stripe is tatty on mine and there all faded so have the main grill upper and lower and the outer fog lamp surrounds and a gloss black front and rear Vw badges.

Bit more done today and being my own car I tried out a few new products to me. Gtechniq tri clean for the leather and interior trim really is a great product. Got one side waxed and outside to check over coming on well now. Genuinely happy with just how good the paintwork is yes it’s 12 years old but really is in very good shape now. Steering wheel cleaned just needs some autosol on the vw badge seen @CharlySkunkWeed do his r32 this way. Some paddle extensions added.

Cheers mate. Few more bits to do then think a tuning box and possibly a slight drop on H&R springs would finish it. Or I’ll end up selling it who knows. 😂😂
