Unfortunately im my worst enemy i cant do things in half measures when it comes to building something or a project.Ive decided to strip it to a bare shell and have it blasted and start completly fresh so everything is 100%👌

Ive also changed my mind countless times on wether to change the engine as it just adds more time and money. In the end i new my current engine would need a rebuild at least as most gaskets are perished never mind what else i would find once it was stripped and even once that was all done it would still be to underpowered for me to enjoy it.

The hunt then started for suitable doner engine/gearbox setup. Originally i thought beams or k20 but after getting engine dimensions both are far to tall for my very small car plus i dont want to modify the interior/gearstick location and any gearbox options i looked at where miles to long even looking at different gearbox options with adapter plates/bell housings.

After even more nights of googling it seemed my best option for gearbox fitment was the Toyota T50 5 speed manual used the 70s/80s in the celicas ae86 twincam etc so i new the gearbox and i new the earlier Toyota engines would be a more suitable size so i decided on the 4age 20v blacktop engine 160bhp standard itbs as standard which sound epic with trumpets fitted

A neighbour of mine had an old Mitsubishi but I don’t think it was a Colt. This is the only photo I have (ripped from Facebook from ten years ago!)

Class! That’s a Colt Celeste! Dad used to work in a Colt new car dealer as a mechanic. He found a minter of a yellow ‘77 Celeste SR with about 20-odd thousand miles on it when I was in my teens, but the eejit lost interest and sold it again. They are ultra-rare...

Been busy trolling the Internet like a mad trying to source parts to keep this project moving forward.

In the last 10 days ive purchased
1.NOS koni adjustable rear shocks
2.Koni adjustable front shocks meant for a 90s mr2
3.Weld on coilovers used on escorts & ae86s
4.T50 gearbox only picture i have is it in place to see what fitment is like
5.70s kp61starlet manuel steering rack
6.Corsa c eps system
7.NOS Early 90s Honda Accord starter as these with an adaptor can be mounted to the 4age. These sit alot closer to the engine giving better clearance for the rwd manifold.
8. Starter adapter coming from Australia
9.4age 20v blacktop with loom flywheel & ecu which i probably wont use

Most parts found down south with a trip to Mullingar for the gearbox and steering rack and a trip this morning to Naas for the engine

Oh wow. First I've seen this thread! Anything old and Jap gets my interest going. More progress updates required! What an absolute beaut👍🏻
