The track day gods were NOT smiling yesterday. Wanted to do a box oil change and noticed an inner cv boot had split. Grease everywhere. So frantic search online for a boot I could buy and the closest is a Kia secona piece of crap which equally have no mission of getting on a sat. So pulled the shaft out and jogged down to motorstore in glengormley and found a couple of universal candidates. Wheeked one on and remitted the shaft. Test drive showed no Speedo I pulled a wire out of the ABS sensor connector FFS. FML indeed. Hastily patched up and rock and rolling again.

Track wheels on and ready to roll tomorrow. Can see the boot crapping itself on the first lap but sure at least I'll be there.

It will be absolutely fine for the day and probably more.

The original one looks pretty bad, what happened there? When mine split it's usually round the circumference of the top ridge of the innermost bellow where the boot is at its tightest point and does the most "flexing" as it rotates.

I know our cars are different, when mine go it's always the inner passenger side which sits at a steeper angle than the rest. When the mine go the joint won't be far behind (and usually ahead...).

not the most exciting vid but you can hear the charger whining. Everything on track was pretty fast so very little overtaking unfortunately. Also numbers were down a bit later in the day too

Well after the pre track day calamities last week I took the decision to fix a few things. I want the engine to be 100% dry and clean so I’ll know if something is awry.

- replace the universal cv boot with a proper one. It held on the day but I don’t have confidence in it long term.
- replace the Halfords gear oil I got at short notice with some redline stuff
- replace both rear hubs. The abs sensor is built in and I broke one of the wires fixing the driveshaft. Patched for the day ok but not good going forward. The speedo runs off that sensor too so it needs to work.
- fit a gearbox oil breather kit. With track time the std box will blow some oil out it’s breather.
- sort out the oil filter housing gaskets which are weeping slightly. Have had them for about 9months lol.
- fit a harness bar. Found myself moving around too much on the std seatbelt. This should keep me snug in place. Had to get a special one made that sits further back as I’ve modified my seat for more headroom.
- found some new floor mats. Mine had some crappy ones covering the oem ones but the oem ones were in bad condition.
- new nitron springs to replace the now crusty ones I have.
- oil pressure and temp senders. My digi dash has inputs for them so might as well use them.

started tonight to get ready for the new hubs etc.

undertrays were covered in grease and gearoil as I spilled a load trying to fill it from the top last weekend. Total horror show down there. Had planned to spend tomorrow working on it but rain might be a feature.
