Theres a guy on the owners forum already claimed that title.

Been chopping one up and adding different lights and bumpers from different cars for what seems a few years now and the car nowhere near finished.

Will have to stage an intervention if @pablo gets that far

420 turbo must have been a rare beast, 420s were rare enough. I had a few R8 Rovers, they were great cars in their day.

Are these rovers the ones that came with a tomcat t25 turbo or is that another rover. That turbo used to be put on the Renault 5 gt turbo to convert from. T2 to t25.. Far too big for the wee 1.4...ive been even worse. T25/t3 on the current one that needs moved to new garage

Some random stuff done

- after 18 months my brakes finally have retaining screws!

2020-10-22 15.42.16.jpg

- New performance friction rear pads. brakes felt good with the PF fronts and oem ish rears but wanted the car to squat a bit more on hard braking so upgraded the rear pads too. Really impressed with the PF stuff. No pics, they are brake pads

- Replaced the steering wheel with a snap-off boss and MOMO wheel. Excuse the garish yellow writing it will be getting dyed black. It was about the only aftermarket wheel that had a good thickness to it. Ordered from a UK company who simply order from Momo, who didnt have any so a whole palava of waiting then cancelling. Found a place in Latvia selling them (on ebay) for £45 cheaper and I had it in my hand 3 days later.

- New front plate, better dimensioned than the last one. And a rear raised gel plate. Liked the really glossy black you get on them

- fitted the red rollbar cover I modified/painted. Mainly to check clearances etc but also to see the paint on the car. Looks ridiculous but all fits ok etc which is good

- dropped the front end by about 10mm by using different upper shock mounts. The shocks I have are lowered as much as I could without the spring rattling loose so this was a cheap option to get a bit more drop.

Funny I was thinking the same too. Good shout. I’ll never run a hard top as I don’t fit.

finally plumbed in a wee catch tank for the rocker cover breather. was just venting to atmosphere before (didnt vent much if anything) but Ill feel happier knowing its covered.

need to figure out what to do with the top port, wee filter maybe.

Also started into my new bax, Short shifter selector being fitted and new slave cylinder fitted. Need a bush for the selector rod which Im finding very difficult to find.

And lastly following @AJWALL I picked up a smaller rear view mirror from halfords. I found it really in the way at mondello where you actually turn left (vs kirkistown right turns) so fingers crossed it does the business. Still have the little mount for the old mirror so easy to swap back.

Leave the mirror off. Not like it's any use anyway in these cars :innocent:

Mine has never had one and have never had any complaints.
